Uncommon Divinity

The parable of ages,
passed on by those who kept track of it,
were also those few literate.
They translated the pages,
and applied their lives to the story,
devoiding it of authenticity.

Some blindly believe this tale,
as life's operating instructions,
life's meaning and definition.
To the one we all should hail,
bow to him as we worship glory;
believe or die is your simplicity.

As for us who have free will,
our will to live meets yours to kill,
opposition to the cup blood fills,
heathens us watching his death, ecstatic eyes chilled,
that is my free will which I equally fulfill
from the divine in us it was instilled

Believing your personal convictions ruins individuality.
To mimic your pathetic life is inhumane brutality.
I have my own perceptions of what is reality.
My personal beliefs say that you should be hailing me.

False idols, confession and sin
Droning hymns of the congregation
Sickness repelled by whispering prayers
Sainthood status mere mortals confer
God spoke to you and told you to behave
To do only good and to be his holy slave
God spoke to me and told me to be free
Of people like you and your views of sanity

I refuse to be a drone of holiness and praise
I will not fake my life in general malaise
I am not scared of death, I don't need to pretend
That there is an afterlife, that this is not the end
It is arrogance to believe that you are so enlightened
To tell god what he must be is the highest sin
I will not be caught up in a religious craze
I could care less what you do in your convinced daze
Stay away from me and my opinion do not oppress
Religion is the root of evil, its Satan's great success
