Title: Dental Work Author/Artist: MK Pairing: Sawada Shin x Yamaguchi Kumiko Fandom: Gokusen Theme: #27, Overflow Disclaimer: I don't own Gokusen. I'm alllmost dooooone. Oh god, let it ennnnd >_> Besides. After this, I've got TricK, Kindaichi, KimiPet Sawada Shin had a problem, and that problem was his teeth. They kept wanting to pop out of his mouth and wave at people. He bit the inside of his cheek in protest. Teeth should do as they are told. The only thing bothering him aside from his teeth was Kumiko. She was surrounded by papers, books, receipts and two large ledgers. School had yet to resume, but there she was, drowning in math. He sat down next to her so that their sides touched and then frowned when she didn't react at all. The papers. What could possibly be so interesting about them? Shin took a good long look, and quickly found his head darting back and forth between the two accounting books. "Kumiko what are you doing?" "The books," she said absently, tapping her pencil against her mouth before returning to her calculations. "It's tax season." "The numbers don't match up." She snorted. "Of course they don't. This one," she gestured to the left ledger, "Is for our personal records." "And the other?" "For the government." There was a moment where part of Shin wondered if he should see this, in case anyone questioned him about tax fraud and illicit activity before the rest of him kicked in and smothered it. "Show me." That's what he was going to school for, after all. He should be able to help with the books both sets. Oji-san and Kyo came back in the early afternoon and took a look at the finished books. Kyo wasn't great with numbers, but he did have a good memory of what they had spent money on over the year, in case anything had been forgotten. Halfway through, his stomached growled, and Shin slapped a hand over it to try and muffle the sound. It was too late. Kyo laughed outright. "How long have you two been at this?" Oji-san asked, standing up, dusting his hands off on his thighs again. "You need something to eat when you're working." As if agreeing with him, Yankumi's stomach let out a similar noise. "Where're Tetsu and Minoru? Oiii, slackers!" "They're still at the stand," Shin remembered as he stood up. "Guess it's me tonight." "Sit down, sit down! We'll order in... What do you feel like?" The Ooedo tradition of "ordering in" was a little different than when Shin usually ordered take out or delivery for himself. For one thing, everyone could ask for something completely different. For another thing, it was free. "Mmmm, Kawamura-san makes the best beef ribs!" Kyo had sticky fingers and a look of sheer delight on his face. Yankumi wasn't far behind. "No, no, it has to be Maeda-san's unadon!" Eel wasn't exactly Shin's favourite food, but he had to admit that whoever had made the tonkatsu was amazing. It was delicious, hot, and perfectly cooked. "Is the tekkadon good, Oji-san?" The old man nodded and finished chewing. "Actually, do you remember when Kumiko first came here? There was certain incident with the tuna" "Aaah! Stop it, stop! I refuse!" That, of course, only piqued Shin's interest. "Yamada and Ueda stared at the girl, the blood spraying out of mid-air and she turns her blood-covered face to Ueda and says" "AIYEEEEEE!" "Oi, Yankumi, don't wet your pants like you did whe-mmmph!" It was worth it. Kumiko was terrible with ghost stories. She scowled at him, her hand still over his mouth, so he stuck his tongue out to touch her palm. "Yeek!" She glared at him again, wiping her hand on her pants. "Shouldn't you be nicer to me now?" Shin snorted, but it was too lateshe was already making that face he had seen a few times before, usually when she was asleep or sick. It was terrifying, it was more fearsome than any scary story he could tell her, it was It was goofy and pervy all at once. She was definitely thinking something weird. And she was laughing. "Stop thinking weird things!"
