Taekwon-Do
Club
Yarmouth Taekwon-Do is owned and operated by Mr. Randy Muise, 2nd degree black belt with the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF, formed in 1966). Mr. Muise has been teaching Taekwon-Do in Yarmouth since September, 1996. Yarmouth Taekwon-Do is in affiliation with the ITF, through our sponsor, Mr. David Hiltz of Hiltz Taekwon-Do in Sackville. Mr. Hiltz is a 4th degree black belt, and ITF Provincial Representative for Nova Scotia. At Yarmouth Taekwon-Do, we practice the original and true taekwon-do, created for the world by General Choi Hong Hi, on April 15, 1955. Taekwon-Do provides an excellent balance of physical and mental martial arts training. Physical training includes basic fitness exercises, stretching, studying of the original Chon Ji patterns, self-defense applications, hand and foot techniques, contact sparring and tournament competition (optional).

Mental training accompanies the physical training in the ways of learning courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Taekwon-Do is an individual journey. How well one does depends on his or her self. Students train together in class, forming bonds of friendship and camaraderie. Students learn not only from their instructors, but also from each other. However each student's personal success comes from inside his or her self. It is the uniqueness of the individual that determines what kind of  martial artist they will become.

Taekwon-Do can be taught to anyone who sincerely wishes to learn. A good martial artist is not determined by age, size, agility or strength, but by the work one puts into it and by knowledge the
individual possesses.

Taekwon-Do is the Korean art of self-defense.

Definition of Taekwon-Do:
Tae  jumping or flying, to kick or smash with the foot.
Kwon to punch or destroy with the hand or fist.
Do  an art or way.

"Taekwon-Do is a way of life. It is a system of self-defense, and a way of self-improvement. Taekwon-Do demands a certain attitude and
self-discipline."
                                                          Mr. Randy Muise

"The objectives of Taekwon-Do are to cultivate character, to trim and slim
the body, to bring out one's strong strengths, to display graceful techniques
and to cultivate one's mind."
                                                          General Choi Hong Hi
