It is with great concern to the committee that
a number of syringes are being found around the Community Hall, and asks all
residents to be aware of this. Not only is the Centre used for a Playgroup centre
but also the Estate children play in the area and especially during school holidays.
If anyone has concerns about suspicious vehicles or persons in the area please
ring the police.
On the last Saturday in June a group of residents gathered for the working bee advertised in the first issue of this Newsletter.
A great job was done in clearing up at the entrance to the estate, mowing, pulling out unwanted fireweed, paspalum and native grass, and removing a lot of rubbish which people had thoughtlessly dumped there. Two trailer-loads were carted away after our work.
Many thanks to all who came along: Juliet & Adam Curl, Helen & Jim Josephson, Desley & Mark McGeady, Cheryl Gauntlet, Julie & Graham Clark, Steve Foster, and Helen & Grahame Hackett.
When we hold the next session, we will work further from the dam, to clear up under the transmission lines and along fire trails.
LADIES AND REAL MEN (REAL MEN DO HOUSEWORK)
We have been informed by Max Fleming (our sewerage man) that too much Phosphours is still going into our sewerage system. This is costing a great deal of money to buy the chemicals required to remove it (as is the law). This is a cost that we can well do without.
Again, here is an extract from the document by Toby Fiander & Associates from the minutes from the first executive meeting;
Do not dispose of any materials like disposable nappies, cigarette butts, condoms, sanitary items, wrappers, newspapers, plastic bags and similar product into the toilet bowl. These products tend to block up components of the STP which adds to the operating and maintenance costs. Strong chemical substances and paints not to be disposed into the STP system, they kill the micro-organisms that are an essential part of the sewerage treatment process as well as damaging the pipes and pumping.
