"oh man! a full table of free booze! good thing I'm not driving to Cleveland."

Finally, after months and months of planning to plan and a few days of actual planning, our heroes took off for Cleveland. Jeff took the crisp $100 bill that he won at his company outing in a thrilling potato sack victory and hopped in the car to pick up his proverbial partner in crime.

Steve had all his junk ready to go so they loaded (and I mean LOADED) up the car. Someone forgot to tell these packrats that they were taking a VW Jetta on the trip, not a 15-foot U-Haul. They left Cambridge at 4:15 P.M.

After weeks of hearing from friends that too much time in the car could cause tempers to flare, Jeff and Steve proved everybody wrong by getting into a heated argument before even crossing into New York State. Something about the 2000 Subway Series…details are sketchy….a partial transcript:

Jeff: You are a petty, bitter person.
Steve: This trip isn't going to last very long if I beat the shit out of you.
Jeff and Steve: <twenty minutes of silence>

Next stop….Village of Liverpool, NY.

Hey, these kids like to eat. Jeff has even told me in confidence that he could have a civil conversation with Bud Selig so long as it was over lunch. So after about 5 hours of driving, Jeff and Steve put their differences aside and pulled off the highway to enjoy a bite. Looking to sample some of the local flavor, they chose a little joint near the center of town called Pizza Villa.
Jeff's Review of Pizza Villa:
· Ambience: Hot
· Pizza: No
· Ducks on bathroom mirror: Yes

An odd little place, that Pizza Villa. But I suppose one should have expected that at 9PM, a Pizza place would be out of pizza. Steve enjoyed a third-rate chicken parm sub and Jeff enjoyed a "Philli" steak and cheese.

A post-midnight trip to Niagra Falls yielded the following information: it's too dark to see Niagra Falls post-midnight. However, it IS possible to walk into Canada. Walking into Canada was too good for our heroes to resist. So they did.

After a couple more hours, the driving was getting tougher; sleep was in order. A brief nap at a rest stop did little more than suck all of the fresh air out of the car and force them to remove their contacts. One hour later, they were back on the road to Cleveland…
