I finished my B.A.
in Secondary Education at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras
Campus. It took me 6 years! But I love la YUPI, I am a jerezana hasta el
tuetano. Those were the best years of my life... my roommates, las noches
de galeria in Old San Juan, the student festivals, las Justas, even the
job at the library...
I have traveled a
lot during the last couple of years... New York, Pennsilvania, Florida,
Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and the Dominican
Republic (Bayahibe, La Romana, Boca Chica, Santo Domingo).
During 1997-98 I went to Southwest Texas State University with the National
Student Exchange Program. It was a wonderful year. In Texas I visited San
Marcos, Austin, San Antonio, McAllen, Los Ebanos, Wimberley, Houston, Dallas...
it was also fun in New Orleans (Mardi Gras) and in San Luis Potosi, Mexico
(Christmas Vacations). During the past few years I worked as a PE
teacher at Montessori del Sol Elementary School and coached gymnastics
at Mihai Gymnastics Academy.
My long term
goal is complete my Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences with a
major in Motor Learning.
I am on my way... I was accepted at the University of Florida, in Gainesville. I
worked with the Office of Graduate Minority Programs, but this semester I am
teaching Spanish at UFL. I am starting to work with
my thesis. My advisor, Dr. Cauraugh is an excellent professor. He
is working with EMG triggered neuromuscular stimulation as a rehabilitation
protocol for stroke patients. I see myself following that line of
research, but including Hispanics to the equation...
So, that pretty much is my life...
