So -- Where the Heck Was Bob, Anyway?

After a year or so of hi-jinks and goofin' off, Where's Bob calls it a day

For a little over a year, we've asked the magical question "Where's Bob?" Truth is, that concept never quite worked out.

If you've been coming to RealPittsburgh.com for any length of time, you've surely noticed how much we've added to the site since the early days -- and while I may be the office slacker, I also have to pitch in and do something approaching my share of the other duties on the site.

We've finally reached the point where this little column eats up more of my time than it's probably worth. And so, it's with a mixture of regret and relief that this will be the final "Where's Bob."

Without question, the best part about doing this little feature has been the fact that many of you have taken the time to respond to something I wrote, whether it was to say you were amused or ticked off. More than a few displaced Pittsburghers wrote to say that I had brought back some Pittsburgh memory, which is about the highest praise I could have received.

I even appreciated the emails that called me an idiot. Fact is, most of the time I'd agree with that statement.

And finally, thanks to my co-workers, who've had to carry my sorry ass every time I was out doing something fun.

I'll still be here at RealPittsburgh.com, and from time to time I'll most likely get to do some things that will be similar in style to "Where's Bob". So try and choke back those tears and please try not to jump off any buildings -- I'm still here and you're still there. We'll meet again.

Later. Gotta go take a nap under the conference room table.

Is the fact that this is the last "Where's Bob" the saddest thing you've ever read, or what?
bye bob good luck!!! -- hotbabeinsearchof (216.68.127.192)

No more "Where's Bob?"? Reminds me of the day we could no longer find "Calvin & Hobbes" in the paper anymore. :-< -- Yetanotherfan (165.117.55.57)
Bob, you'll never really know what your pics meant to me. 6 hours away from my city, you were the only visual connection i could maintain to Pittsburgh. Goodbye. -- PittsburghloveratUniversityofVirginia (128.143.251.120)
Ha! You can't possibly be napping under the conference table because I know for a fact that the media never sleeps. -- Natty Bumpo (204.52.239.31)
Your contribution to RP was just about the only part that had anything to do with Pittsburgh. This is a shame, and I will miss you! -- Pittsburghgirl (206.79.57.71)
First Kathy Jo, now Where's Bob... local flavor/local insight/local commentary... no comment -- MoreLevityPlease (172.17.7.23)
Ugh...first the guy from New Orleans leaves who wrote those great restaurant reviews and now you're goin away too. 'Where's Bob' was RP's anchor...how sad to see it go! -- the Big Lebowski (207.70.172.7)
Come on, maybe RP could let you do Where's Bob less often like twice/mo or at least monthly. I'm really going to miss the page. -- Still whining CPboy (128.2.109.23)
I agree with that last statement. Let's petition RP! I also agree with Etna Bob, Where's Bob was the only reason I ever visited this web site, and Bob hooked me into it. Now I visit it every day. Bob has been a good worker (ha, ha), or at least a good advertiser of RP! -- Bill (206.150.201.21)
I think we need tp petition the RP folks and make sure Bob stays here..what does everyone think? -- Bobfan (24.4.254.164)
Your column was the only reason I kept coming back to the realpittsburgh site. Now I'm forced to remove it from my list of bookmarks. So long, and thanks for all the laughs. -- etna bob (129.37.88.221)
By the way, Bob. I think a lot of us would like to have an archive of all you great articles. They'd be little tokens to remember you by. Maybe you can get the people at RealPittsburgh to put the list on the website. Or, you could e-mail them out to your fans. -- Bill (206.150.201.134)
