History of the Ramapo-Indian Hills Winterguard

The Ramapo-Indian Hills Winterguard (RIH) started in 1981 at Indian Hills High School. The instructor was Sal Adamo. He was specfically hired for Winterguard only. Every ascending year the RIH Winterguard was getting better. From 1986 to 1989 was the climax for this guard. The RIH Wintergaurd went to the WGI regionals and received 15th place out of 69 guards. That is the highest place this guard has ever gotten at the WGI regionals. In 1986, the RIH Winterguard won the gold medal at championships for the Open division. The following year, they won the silver medal in Open division as well. In 1987, the RIH Winterguard won the bronze medal in Open division too. The year after that, the RIH Winterguard won 4th place in Open divison. After 1989, the RIH Winterguard went to a declining downfall until 1994 when the RIH Winterguard won 4th place in A division. The RIH Wintergaurd didn't win anything until last year. In 1999, the RIH Wintergaurd won third place in AAA division at championships, receiving the bronze medal. Last year's winterguard had two new instructors and twelve new members out of sixteen. This year, everyone came back from last year except we have two new members this year. This winterguard is the "comeback" for greatness we once had in 1986-1989. The RIH Wintergaurd is in AAA division this year. For this wintergaurd season, we hope that we do the best we can and that we have "faith" that everything will go our way. YYYEEEAAAHHH!
