What an exciting event. Unfortunately, the Saturday of the event was interrupted by previously unforseen circumstances.

It was the new car's inaugural visit to Willowbank Raceway, and also travelled almost 500km over the whole weekend.  There was 4 return trips from Brisbane to Willowbank due to Shell needing to attend an exam (after travelling out for the Saturday morning session of course!) then returning to pick up Brett and dropping him to work back in Brisbane that afternoon and then driving back out for the Saturday evening final qualifying.  Sunday, however, was far more relaxing only needing to travel once (however the hour wait in the queue's to get out.

There was so many records being broken, and then re-broken and then almost broken again (in particular the Doorslammer's) that it was hard to remember who broke what.  Check out Willowbank or ANDRA for the details.

Top fuel action was close, however the only 4 second pass was run on Friday night.  But there was plenty of fiery action (literally).

Ben Bray was giving it his all to break the 5 second mark and nearly took out Garry Phillips in his attempt.  However, his consolation was that he is now the ET record holder with an 6.077.

Pro Stock was another exciting category and the battle between Peter Ridgeway and Tony Wedlock. Wedlock was looking to achieve a previously unheard of clean sweep winning all the meetings in one season. He did this, and his effort was equalled by Ridgeway taking out the new speed record in his semi-final and the ET record by .02 to make it 7.301 in the final.
