LIGHTSWITCHES

I'm going to take my camera
and do a study of LightSwitches.
In every room of my house,
in every part of my school,
in every building I've ever been in,
there is a plastic plate
with two holes for screws
and a protrusion which tells me
on or off.
LightSwitches are not epic.
They are simple, functional, ever-present.
LightSwitches are not monumental,
but I have seen more LightSwitches
than life-altering events
or objects of untouchable beauty.
You will only come across
forks in the road,
epiphanies from above,
mind-numbing pain
every so often,
but LightSwitches are always there.
