Why 'GBR' and not 'RGB'?

- SMPTE/EBU YPbPr standard specifies Y to be on Channel 1, Pb on Channel 2 and Pr on Channel 3. To match this and ensure hardware compatibility, and since the Green channel carries the sync signal, Green is allocated to channel 1, Blue and Red follows suit on Channel 2 and 3 respectively.
Hence 'GBR' instead of 'RGB'.
