The Elders of Zion - April 18, 1995 | ||||||||||
Wouldn't you know it? Merely one day after I intimated that there might be something Yitzchak Rabin and I could agree upon, he goes and changes his mind. As if it was scripted, he even took Shimon Peres along with him. Their stand on Jerusalem had not gone far enough, but it was definitely a start. They had decided to expropriate 131 acres of land in the eastern sector of Jerusalem to use for housing. The move was calculated to demonstrate Israeli control over its capital, and Israeli steadfastness that no negotiations on Jerusalem would take place before their appointed time next year. Of course, the Arabs were angry, but when had that ever stopped Israel before? All seemed to be going well until Rabin's strange bed-fellows came back to haunt him. The Arab parties in the coalition threatened a non-confidence motion which would have brought down the government, and Rabin and Peres decided to suspend the expropriation plans. What the mighty United Nations could not accomplish a bunch of also-ran Arab politicians managed to succeed at doing. Israel has been brought to its knees. But it is not the fault of the Arabs. They were doing what they should have been doing. If I were in their position I would have done the same, though any prospects were quite dim that their position would have improved. No, it is not their fault. It is the fault of Rabin and Peres -- the Elders of Zion. The original Protocols of the Elders of Zion was a forgery of historic proportions, claiming that Jews ran the world's banking and other economic establishments, governments, and media. It claimed a Jewish conspiracy to rule the world at the expense of everyone else. It was the harbinger of blood libels, pogroms, mass forced conversions, and, at least in part, the Holocaust. It was the supreme effort of anti-semites to bring grief to the Jews, and it succeeded. Throughout the past fifty years, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion has been shown for the lie that it is. It is condemned throughout the world today, except in Arab countries. Today, however, there is a new Protocols of the Elders of Zion. It is the coalition agreement which underpins the Israeli government. The Elders, Rabin and Peres, drew up the protocols in an effort to divest the Jews of their control of Israel. The agreement between Labour and Meretz is bad enough, representing the sellout of what was ostensibly a Zionist party to interests that stand opposed to Zionism and the Jewish retention of Israel. The Protocols set out the policies that the Rabin regime would follow provided that Meretz lent its support to the government. Meretz ministers were given responsibility for what is arguably the second most important ministry in the government -- education. It was never a surprise that the policies developed by this government should enjoy the support of the Arabs in the Knesset. Meretz's participation in the coalition all but assured that. But the ultimate sellout of Israel is that any ostensibly Zionist party should allow its government to rest on the support of Arabs, whose interests are necessarily opposed to Zionism. Whatever its faults, and however mis-guided its policies, Meretz is still a Jewish party. But to balance the control of the Jewish State on Arab votes is unconscionable. Yet that is what has happened. So much for ostensible Zionism. The Arabs have finally shown their intent in the Knesset, and that is to destroy any remaining vestige of Zionism in Israel. The Israeli government was about to embark on surgery to strengthen the heart of the country, and the Arab members instead are about to cut off part of that heart. This is a problem that Rabin himself created, and that Peres helped to cement. An arab balance of power in Israel is a disease that Israel cannot afford to allow to fester. If the original Protocols of the Elders of Zion was the supreme effort of anti-semites to bring grief to the Jews, the new version is no less malicious. Jews are being imprisoned for no reason, they are being forbidden from serving in certain areas of the army, they are being forbidden from praying at their holy sites, they are being denied basic essential services such as water, electricity, health care, and emergency services, their children are being denied an education, and they are being woken up in the dead of night and being told that they will have to leave their homes. One can only imagine the response of the world if the Arabs were to be put through these persecutions. If the original Protocols were the harbinger of blood libels, pogroms, mass forced conversions, and Holocaust, the new version has the potential to incite a civil war. The Israeli army is already divided against itself because of the politics of its leaders and the orders that may have to be answered by soldiers. The population of Israel is against the policies of its government as never before in the history of the State. The people have little confidence in the army to protect their safety, and even army personnel is suffering from ever decreasing confidence and morale. I ask you, is this the work of a Jewish government, in a Jewish State? It is not. It is the work of a government that depends for its very life on the support of Arabs who would like nothing better than to witness the implosion of the Jewish State. What Arab armies could not accomplish in six wars, Arab politicians have accomplished with one threat. The creators of this government, Rabin and Peres, have turned the original Protocols on its head, allowing for an Arab conspiracy to destroy the Jewish State -- the one answer to the original Protocols. Rabin and Peres should be ashamed of themselves. Jerusalem has been given up to Arab threats. Israel has been sold out by its elected leaders in an effort to prolong the agony of their control for another year. The Elders of Zion must be exposed for the forgery they are and the lies they have told. They must be thrown out of office together with their supporters, in favour of a Jewish government in the Jewish State. Israel must be given the chance to defend itself against threats from within as well as from outside. Jerusalem depends on it. Israel depends on it. Jewish existence depends on it. The sooner it happens, the better off all Jews will be. Copyright 1995. Reproduction in electronic or print format by permission only. |
