(Arizona elegans elegans)
The Kansas glossy snake is somewhat
common through Eddy county. They look very similar to great plains
rat snakes, but have smooth scales and other subtle differences. They
typically inhabit the flat part of the county, not being found in the mountains.
They prey on lizards, eggs, small rodents, and probably insects when
they are smaller.
