Bosses

Plant Brain
AP recieved: 5
Gil recieved: 468
Items to steal: Eye Drops, Iron Helm
Items recieved: Phoenix Down
Attacks: Pollen, Thunder, Right Tentacle.
This boss will begin the battle by casting Pollen, which will cast Darkness on all of your party. Use Eye Drops to heal this. Get Zidane to steal the items and use Fire sword magic with Steiner, and also get Vivi to attack with Fire, as Plant Brain is weak against this element. Its thunder attack should only cause about 70-80HP damage to Zidane and Vivi, but about 150 to Steiner as he is wearing armour. The tentacle attack isn't too powerful, just keep everybody's HP above 100 in this battle (and Steiner's above 150), and you should have no problem at all. Late on in the battle Blank will turn up and will help you fight. If you haven't yet stolen the Iron Helm, concentrate on this now that you have two theives. Once you have stolen this, just continue to attack until it is dead.

Black Waltz I & Sealion
HP: 299
Items to steal: Silk Shirt, Remedy
Attacks: Fire, Blizzard

Sealion
HP: 472
Items to steal: Mythril Dagger, Ether
Attacks: Wing, Blizzard, Blizzara, Tsunami

AP recieved: 5
Gil recieved: 339
Items recieved: Hi-Potion, Phoenix Down

Go for the Black Waltz first. Steal the items if you must, then kill him. Attacking the Sealion at this point will only prompt the Black Waltz to heal it, and if you defeat the Sealion, Black Waltz I will summon another one. Now move on to the Sealion. Before attacking, you should steal from it, as the Mythril Dagger is the best weapon Zidane can use for a while. Once you have this, you can concentrate on attacking. The orb on its chest will change colour as it loses HP. This affects which attacks it can use. At the start of the battle it is blue, and the Sealion can use Wing and Blizzard, neither attack will cause much damage. After it has lost some of it's HP, the orb will turn yellow. Now the Sealion can also use Blizzara, which is twice as powerful as Blizzard. After it loses even more HP, the orb will turn red. Now it can use it's most powerful attack, Tsunami. This battle isn't hard, just keep your HP above 100 and you won't have any problems at all. If you get a Trance, using Tidal Flame twice will easily kill the Sealion.

Black Waltz II
HP: 1030
AP recieved: 5
Gil recieved: 441
Items to steal: Steepled Hat, Leather Plate
Items recieved: Ether
Attacks: Teleport, Fire, Thunder, Blizzard, Fira

Black Waltz II will not attack the princess. Instead, it will concentrate on wiping out the other three members, then putting her to sleep. If this happens, the game is over. You shouldn't really struggle with this battle. Just use physical attacks and get Dagger to heal if anyone's HP is too low. Do not attack with magic or Black Waltz II will counterattack by hitting Zidane, Steiner and Vivi with the same magic.

Black Waltz III
HP: 1128
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Steepled Hat, Silver Gloves, Linen Cuirass
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Hit, Blizzard, Fire, Thundara

If Vivi has learned Slow, cast this early on in the battle. As Gizamaluke has quite a lot of HP, you should begin attacking while you are stealing the items. It could be worthwhile to get Vivi to Focus a couple of times. If Zidane has the Bandit ability, you should be able to steal the items fairly easily. If Vivi is affected with silence, counter this with an Echo Screen. Keep everyone's HP above 200. When attacking, get Freya to Jump, and Vivi should cast Thunder as this is the most affective element.

Gizamaluke
HP: 3175
AP recieved: 5
Gil recieved: 800
Items to steal: Ice Staff, Magus Hat, Elixir
Items recieved: Tent
Attacks: Crash, Water, Silent Voice
If Vivi has learned Slow, cast this early on in the battle. As Gizamaluke has quite a lot of HP, you should begin attacking while you are stealing the items. It could be worthwhile to get Vivi to Focus a couple of times. If Zidane has the Bandit ability, you should be able to steal the items fairly easily. Beatrix
HP: -
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Mythril Sword, Chain Plate, Phoenix Down
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Slash, Thunder Slash, Shock, Stock Break

It is a good idea to cast Reis's Wind immediately, and also Mighty Guard if you have it. Beatrix's physical attack will cause about 200HP damage, as will Thunder Slash. Shock will do between 600 and 800, so it will probably knock out one of your characters. In this battle, concentrate on healing and stealing, rather than attacking. You never actually have to attack Beatrix, after a couple of minutes she will get bored and use Stock Break on you, reducing everyone's HP to 1, and ending the battle. You probably won't be able to steal the Mythril Sword in the time you are given.

Black Waltz III
HP: 1292
AP recieved: 5
Gil recieved: 864
Items to steal: Steepled Hat, Lightning Staff, Flame Staff.
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Hit, Freeze, Fire, Thunder, Blizzard

The low-level magic attacks shouldn't cause you too much trouble, neither should Hit. However, if a character is frozen, Black Waltz III will usually kill them in the next turn. Get Marcus to steal the items and Dagger to heal; then attack with Steiner and Marcus. You shouldn't have trouble with this battle.

Ralvurahva
HP: 2296
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Mythril Fork, Bone Wrist
Items recieved: None
Attacks: String, Devil's Kiss, Blizzara

String will slow you down, and Devil's Kiss will poison you, but it has no major attacks. The items are fairly easy to steal, and if Steiner has the Blood Sword and MP attack, this battle will be over in seconds. It will escape before it dies, so you recieve no AP or items.

Antlion
HP: 3938
AP recieved: 5
Gil recieved: 2424
Items to steal: Gold Helm, Mythril Vest, Annoyntment
Items recieved: Ether, Annoyntment
Attacks: Trouble Mucus, Sandstorm, Fira, Counter Horn

By far the most damaging attack is Sandstorm, which reduces everyone's HP to below 10, and also causes darkness. When this is used, immediately cast Reis's Wind and White Wind. The other attacks shouldn't cause too much of a problem. If you attack physically, the Antlion will counterattack with its horn. Antlion is weak against Ice, so once you have stolen the items, cast Blizzara a couple of times to quickly defeat the boss.

Beatrix
HP: -
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Ice Brand, Thunder Gloves, Phoenix Down
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Slash, Thunder Slash, Shock, Stock Break

Much the same as the last time you fought her, Beatrix will end this battle when she is bored, even if you don't attack her. Still, cast Reis's Wind and Mighty Guard, as Shock will now cause over 800HP damage. This time, the battle lasts a little longer than before, so you should have time to steal all three items. She will once again use Stock Break to end the battle.
Zorn & Thorn
Zorn
HP: 4896
Items to steal: Partisan, Stardust Rod
Attacks: Meteorite

Thorn
HP: 2984
Items to steal: Mythril Armour, Mythril Armlet
Attacks: Light Flare

AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items recieved: None

When Zorn gives Thorn Flare power, Thorn will use Light Flare, which will do a small amount of damage to one character. When Thorn gives Zorn Meteor power, Zorn will be able to use Meteorite, which will attack all characters, but isn't all that powerful. If you attack a jester that has been given power with any magic before he attacks, the power is neutralised, and they won't be able to attack. As their attacks will cause no serious threat, you can concentrate on stealing the items. You should have plenty of time for this. You only need to defeat one of the two jesters to end the battle, so attack Thorn as he has the least HP.

Beatrix
HP: -
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Survival Vest, Ice Brand, Phoenix Down
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Slash, Thunder Slash, Shock, Climhazzard

Use the usual tactics, as once again Beatrix can end the battle when she wants. This time, Slow seems to affect her. This time when she gets bored, she will use Climhazzard, which has exactly the same effect as Stock Break.

Ralvuimahgo
HP: 3352
AP recieved: 7
Gil revieved: 1404
Items to steal: Oak Staff, Adaman Vest, Phoenix Down
Items recieved: Ether
Attacks: Ultra Sound Wave, Thundara, Stab, Earth Power

Ultra Sound Wave causes Mini to an individual target, which reduces the power of their physical and magical attacks. If a mini character is hit with Ultra Sound Wave again, they are returned to normal. Attacking the Ralvuimahgo physically will cause it to coil up; meaning that your attacks will do less damage. If you attack it again while it is compact, it will counterattack with Earth Power which hits all targets, including itself. Ralvuimahgo absorbs earth attacks, so it is not a good idea to use physical attacks in this battle. Instead, get Vivi to cast Blizzara, as it is weak against Ice attacks.

Lani
HP: 5708
AP recieved:
Gil recieved:
Items to steal: Coral Sword, Gladius, Ether
Items recieved:
Attacks: Slash, Scan, Blizzara, Thundara, Aera, Water, Fira

Lani mainly concentrates on attacking Dagger. She moves onto the other characters once the princess is knocked out. She can also use Water on the whole party. When Lani scans a character, she uses the information to her advantage, by choosing suitable magic spells which will cause damage. If Dagger is knocked out, you may have a hard time trying to revive her. You will probably also have trouble stealing the items, but it is definately worth getting them. Once you have the items, get Dagger to heal, Zidane and Quina to attack physically, and Vivi to use mid-level magic.

Hilgigars
HP: 8106
AP recieved: 9
Gil recieved: 2136
Items to steal: Fairy Flute, Mythril Fork, Phoenix Down
Items recieved: Elixir, Tent
Attacks: Knock Down, Hiphop, Earthquake, Curaga
Hilgigars will use his attacks in order. First he uses Knock Down, then Hiphop, then Earthquake. Knock Down and Hiphop are physical attacks which hit one character. These attacks often miss, but if they hit they can cause 400-700HP damage. Earthquake is an Earth elemental attack which hits all characters. Any characters wearing Desert Boots will only recieve 50% of the damage from this attack. The battle isn't too hard, but you may have trouble stealing the Fairy Flute. He is weak against Ice attacks. He may use Curaga on himself when low on HP.
* To get a reaction from Dagger, Eiko should summon Fenrir at least once in this battle.
Soulcage
HP: 9765
AP recieved: 9
Gil recieved: 3800
Items to steal: Brigandine, Magician Cloak, Oak Staff
Items recieved: Phoenix Pinion, Elixir
Attacks: Leaf Swirl, LV5 Death, Fire Blades, Mustard Bomb, Shockwave, Fira
This boss is Undead, so it can simply be killed by casting Life. However, if you want to steal the items, you will need to start the battle with adequate protection. Make sure no characters have a level that is a multiple of 5, or Lv5 Death will kill them. Also, equip as many characters as possible with the Body Temp ability so that Mustard Bomb doesn't afflict them with Heat status. Leaf Swirl, Fira and Shockwave shouldn't cause too much damage, just use Dagger and Eiko to heal when required. Whatever you do, do not cast any Fire magic on this boss, as it will then be able to use Fire Blades, which causes about 500HP damage to all characters. If you do cast any Fire magic on it, cast Ice magic immediately afterwards and it will no longer be able to use this attack.

Tantarian
HP: 21997
Exp recieved: 12585
AP recieved: 30
Gil recieved: 4472
Items to steal: Demon's Mail, Silver Fork, Elixir, Ether
Items recieved: Running Shoes
Attacks: Doom, Paper Storm, Edge, Poison
* This strategy assumes you are fighting Tantarian on disc 3.
Go into this battle with Antibody equipped on as many characters as possible. At the start of the battle, cast Reis's Wind immediately. Edge will cause about 1000HP damage to one character, and Paper Storm will cause about 800HP damage to all characters. Doom will start a 10-second countdown, and once this time runs out, the character will die. Attacking the book while it is closed will cause it to open randomly at a page. Usually there is nothing there, but after attacking it 4 or 5 times, the book will open to reveal the Tantarian. However, once you attack the Tantarian physically, the book will close again. Throughout this battle, Zidane should be stealing. Don't be surprised if you don't get the Demon's Mail, it is almost impossible to steal. While the book is closed, get Freya and Amarant to alternately attack the book until the Tantarian is revealed. Vivi can Focus in this time. Then once the book opens to the correct page, get Vivi to keep casting Fira, Zidane keep stealing, and Freya and Amarant do nothing. You should be able to use Fira 5 or 6 times before the book closes again, which will do over half the damage required. While the book is open, the Tantarian can only use Poison, so characters with Antibody equipped will not be affected. Don't worry if you can't steal all the items, it is better to end this battle as quickly as possible.

Ark
HP: 20002
AP recieved: 11
Gil recieved: 5964
Items to steal: Holy Lance, Power Vest, Elixir
Items recieved: Pumice Piece
Attacks: Boomerang, Whirlwind, Propeller Wind, Photon
Equip everyone with Clear Headed before this battle, because Propeller Wind affects all characters with Confuse. Photon will reduce a single character's HP to 1, so heal after this is used. Boomerang and Whirlwind will cause very little damage, so this battle should not be a problem; the only problem will come with trying to steal the Holy Lance.

Valia Pira
HP: 12119
AP recieved: 11
Gil recieved: 4089
Items to steal: None
Items recieved: Ether, Elixir
Attacks: Reflect, Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga
If you have picked up all the items from the Bloodstones around the palace, the Valia Pira will not be able to enhance itself, so the battle is easier if you have observed all the bloodstones. Heal a character after they are attacked. If you are going to be attacking with magic, cast Reflect on one of your characters and reflect the magic off of them, which will ignore Valia Pira's Reflect. Just keep attacking and healing when necessary and the battle should be easy.

Meltigemini
HP: 24348
AP recieved: 11
Gil Recieved: 6428
Items to steal: Demon's Vest, Golden Hairpin, Vaccine
Items recieved: Vaccine
Attacks: Wings, Bio, Venom Powder, Viral Smoke

Equip Antidote on all characters before this battle. Eiko will be in this battle instead of Vivi, and the rest of your party will be the same as it was for Mount Gulug. Viral Smoke will hit all characters, so unless you heal this you won't get any AP from the battle. The battle isn't too hard as long as you have Antibody equipped; Wings may cause over 1000HP damage but that shouldn't cause too much of a problem.
Taharka
HP: 29186
AP recieved: 11
Gil recieved: 8092
Items to steal: Orichalcon, Mythril Claws, Elixir
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Blizzaga, Ram, Chop, Curl
The guardian of the Mirrors doesn't have any major attacks, and this battle isn't too hard at all. The Orichalcon is the best weapon Zidane will have for the rest of disc 3, so it is worth stealing that. When it curls up it makes itself compact and it's defence increases dramatically, although magical attacks will still be effective, especially Fire-elemental attacks. There is no point attacking it until it has opened again. Remember to have your WEAKEST weapons equipped for this battle, as well as for the rest of Ipsen's Castle.

Earth Guardian
HP: 20756
AP recieved: 11
Gil recieved: 4512
Items to steal: Rubber Suit, Avenger
Items recieved: Phoenix Pinion
Attacks: Double Slash, Earthquake, Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga

This boss shouldn't cause too much of a problem. If Zidane and Quina both have Auto-Regen, you shouldn't even need to heal after the Earth Guardian attacks you. His attacks will cause 1000+ HP damage, but nothing that you should worry too much about. It is affected by Sleep, so if you have the Bistro Fork you can put him to sleep and steal the items easily. Quina seems interested in Eating this boss, so you may want to let him eat it.

Silver Dragon
HP: 24055
AP recieved: 13
Gil recieved: 5240
Items to steal: Kaiser Knuckles, Dragon Mail, Elixir
Items recieved: Wing Edge
Attacks: Twister, Aerial Slash, Shockwave, Claw

Kuja's Silver Dragon has no particularly damaging attacks. If you have the Thief Gloves and have learnt Master Thief, stealing the items should not be a problem. It shouldn't take long for you to defeat this boss.

Garland
HP: 40728
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Dark Gear, Ninja Gear, Battle Boots
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Wave, Psychokinesis, Stop, Flare

You should have Locomotion equipped for this battle, although Stop can be healed with Remedy anyway. All of his attacks only hit one character, and cause no more than about 2000HP damage each. Garland has quite a lot of HP but is not hard to defeat.

Kuja
HP: 42382
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Light Robe, Carabini Mail, Ether
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Thundaga, Demi, Flare Star, Ultima
Kuja only seems to use his most damaging attack, Flare Star, when Zidane is at level 99 at this point in the game. Like most bosses he starts the battle with 9999MP, so just don't use Magic Hammer on him and he will only use Demi and Thundaga, neither should cause you a serious problem. At the end of this battle Kuja will go into a Trance and hit you with Ultima.
Nova Dragon
HP: 54940
AP recieved: 13
Gil recieved: 9506
Items to steal: Grand Armour, Dragon Wrist, Remedy
Items recieved: Ether, Wing Edge
Attacks: Psychokinesis, Aerial Slash, Tidal Wave, Shockwave, Twister
None of the Nova Dragon's attacks should cause more than about 1500HP damage. If everyone has Auto-Regen you won't even need to bother healing yourself, although if you don't it may be a good idea to heal after every attack, as all except Psychokinesis hit all characters. Aerial Slash and Twister are Wind elemental, so you may want to protect against this element before battle.

Maliris
HP: 59497
AP recieved: 10
Gil recieved: 8532
Items to steal: Masamune, Ultima Sword, Genji Armour
Items recieved: Phoenix Down, Phoenix Pinion
Attacks: Flame Slash, Reflect, Mustard Bomb, Sword Quiver, Raining Swords
This was the guardian of the Fire Shrine who you didn't get to fight earlier. Equip Body Temp for this battle as he likes to use Mustard Bomb. Flame Slash and Sword Quiver will cause about 2000HP damage to one character. The items it carries are not worth stealing as they are now obsolete. Just concentrate on attacking (don't use magic as Maliris can use Reflect on itself). When Maliris is out of HP, it will counter by hitting your party with Raining Swords which will cause about 2000HP damage to all, so make sure you are prepared for this.

Tiamat
HP: 59494
AP recieved: 10
Gil recieved: 8820
Items to steal: Grand Helm, Feather Boots, Blood Sword
Items recieved: Wing Edge
Attacks: Twister, Float, Silent Claw, Absorb Magic, Absorb MP, Absorb Strength, Jet Fire, Snort
This is the guardian of the Wind Shrine that you didn't get to fight earlier. Give everyone Body Temp for this battle, as Jet Fire hits all characters and afflicts them with Heat, as well as causing 2000+ HP damage. Twister is Wind elemental, and Tiamat may cast Float on your characters so that this attack will cause more damage. Silent Claw hits one character for about 2000HP and silences them. Again, there is not much point in stealing the items, just concentrate on attacking. When low on HP, Tiamat may counterattack with Snort, which removes the character who attacked him from battle; and they won't recieve any AP at the end.

Hades
HP: 55535 Exp recieved: 65535 AP recieved: 30 Gil recieved: 9638 Items to steal: Robe of Lords, Battle Boots, Running Shoes, Reflect Ring Items recieved: Wing Edge Attacks: Judgement Sword, Mustard Bomb, Freeze, Reflect, Curse, Doomsday
If you have beaten Ozma already, Hades will make a comment before the battle; but he will still fight you anyway. Equip everyone with Body Temp for this battle as he likes to use Mustard Bomb and Freeze a lot. Also equip Clear Headed, Antidote and Bright Eyes, because some way into the battle he will begin a countdown and use Curse on your entire party which causes Confuse, Darkness, Poison and Mini, aswell as about 2000HP damage. Mini can be healed by casting Mini on the entire party. You should also equip armour that nullifies or absorbs Shadow damage, because the next time he powers his sword he uses Doomsday, a powerful Shadow-elemental attack. Judgement Sword will reduce one character's HP to 1, and Cleave will cause about 3000HP damage to all. If you attack fast enough, he won't use Curse or Doomsday. During the 3-second countdown for Curse or Doomsday, he will not attack at all. This should give you time to deal serious damage or even kill Hades. Once defeated, Hades will open his synthesist shop.

Kraken
HP: 59496
AP recieved: 10
Gil recieved: 17376
Items to steal: Glutton's Robe, Wizard Rod, Genji Helmet
Items recieved: Phoenix Down, Phoenix Pinion
Attacks: Freeze, Waterga, Leg

Left Tentacle
HP: 18169
Items to steal: Elixir
Attacks: Ink

Right Tentacle
HP: 18168
Items to steal: Wing Edge
Attacks: Water-gun

This is the guardian of the Water Shrine who you didn't get to fight earlier. He has two tentacles attached which have just over 18000HP each, but you don't need to worry about these as they drop off eventually after Kraken has recieved enough damage. The tentacles themselves cannot attack, but while they are present Kraken can only use Freeze and Waterga. Waterga will cause about 1500HP damage to those unprotected, and Freeze is useless if you have Body Temp equipped. It may get the left tentacle to counterattack with Ink, or get the right tentacle to counterattack with Water-gun, but neither attack should cause too much damage. Once the tentacles have been destroyed, Kraken will use Leg as it's counterattack, which is more powerful than Ink or Water-gun.
Lich
HP: 58554
AP recieved: 10
Gil recieved: 8436
Items to steal: Black Robe, Siren's Flute, Genji Gloves
Items recieved: Phoenix Down, Phoenix Pinion
Attacks: Stop, Earthquake, Earth Shake, Death Cutter, LV5 Death, Venom Powder, Death, Doom
This is the Earth Guardian you fought on disc 3. He now has more HP and likes to use Death attacks. The good thing is that these Death attacks can miss. Death Cutter causes Doom aswell as causing damage, all other attacks are commonly used anyway. Stop can be prevented by equipping Locomotion or cured using a Remedy. Earthquake and Earth Shake are Earth elemental and will not cause much more than 1000HP damage, and Venom Powder can be blocked with Antibody, so you only really have to watch out for his death attacks. Keep attacking and end this battle as quickly as possible.

Deathguise
HP: 55535
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 8916
Items to steal: Duel Claws, Black Belt, Elixir
Items recieved: Ether, Wing Edge
Attacks: Meteor, Demon's Claw, Spin
Don't worry about stealing the items, they aren't that good. And besides, you will want this battle to be over as quickly as possible. Meteor can cause over 3000HP damage to all characters, so be prepared for it. Demon's Claw often misses and Spin won't hurt that much; so kill this boss as quickly as possible and if you're lucky it won't even use Meteor.

Trance Kuja
HP: 55535
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Rebirth Ring, White Robe, Ether
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Flare, Flare Star, Holy, Reflect, Curaga, Ultima
Flare Star causes 35x each character's current level in damage, e.g. if a character is level 1 they recieve 35HP damage, if they are level 2 they recieve 70HP damage, etc. He also seems to use this attack as a counterattack. Flare and Holy only hit one character and cause no more than about 2000HP damage. If everyone has Auto-Regen you won't need to heal; otherwise heal after each attack. Keep attacking, and you will quickly defeat Kuja; although he does use Curaga when low on HP. At the end of the battle, he uses Ultima, which destroys the Crystal...

Necron
HP: 54100
AP recieved: 0
Gil recieved: 0
Items to steal: Elixir
Items recieved: None
Attacks: Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Holy, Blue Shockwave, Protect, Shell, Meteor, Grand Cross, Neutron Ring, Curaga
The final boss is extremely fast, and even if you have Auto-Haste, you won't be able to get all characters to attack at once. He even gets two attacks in a row at times. Still, he only has 3 major attacks. Blue Shockwave will reduce one character's HP to 1, althogh it can miss. Neutron Ring will cause about 2500HP damage to all. The worst attack, however, is Grand Cross. This will not only cause serious damage, it will also afflict each character with up to 2 random status changes. It could be absolutely any statuses, so protect against the worst ones in your setup before battle. Remember that a Zombified character cannot be revived when killed, and sometimes characters are hit with Death and Zombie at the same time. He also often uses Grand Cross and Neutron Ring in quick succession. Just attack whenever you have the chance, and also make sure to heal all status changes as quickly as possible.
Quale
HP: 65535
Exp recieved: 65535
AP recieved: 10
Gil recieved: 10800
Items to steal: Robe of Lords, Glutton's Robe, Ninja Gear, Elixir
Items recieved: Elixir
Attacks: Water, Silence, Confuse, Mini, Poison, Rolling Attack, Aqua Breath, Blind

You fight Quina's master after catching a total of 99 frogs. Give as many characters as you can Loudmouth, Antibody, Clear Headed and Bright Eyes before this battle, as Quale likes to use status attacks on your entire party. As long as you are protected against his status magics, Quale shouldn't be any problem at all; he has no particularly damaging attacks despite having the highest HP of any enemy in the game. You will have plenty of time to steal the items, and you shouldn't have to worry too much about

Ozma - This is by far the hardest boss in the game.
HP: 55535
Exp recieved: 65535
AP recieved: 100
Gil recieved: 18312
Items to steal: Pumice Piece, Dark Matter, Robe Of Lords, Elixir
Items recieved: Pumice, Dark Matter
Attacks: Death, Flare, Holy, LV4 Holy, LV5 Death, Flare Star, Curse, Meteor, Doomsday, Berserk, Curaga

Location

First off, where to find Ozma. Ozma is found in the Chocobo Air Paradise, you need a gold chocobo to gain access to this place. The best way to get there is to save your game, fly to the centre of the world map with Choco and hope to see a black, circular shadow. This is the shadow caused by the Air Garden. Feed Choco a dead pepper and watch him fly. If you don't see the shadow, reset and try again until you do see it. Once you visit the place once, you can find its current location using the world map, there are 5 possible places. There are two landforms in the Air Garden.Go to the landform other than the one with Mene, find a large rock.Remember that once you press X for that “!”,you’ll be forced to fight with Ozma, even though you can rearrange your characters, equipments and abilities.

Recommended preperation for every character:

Have the characters equipped with the following abilities, Auto-Life, Auto-Regen, Auto-Haste, Antiboby and Clear-Minded. Any HP+ abilities should also be employe as Ozmas attacks are deadly. If you completed the friendly monsters side-quest, you can also equip the ability Bright Eyes. Put all characters in the back-row to minimise the damage of Curse, (note that Curse causes Mini,Poison, Confuse and Darkness). If you use Eiko in the party then be sure she has 99 Phoenix Pinions and the Phoenix summon learned. This will allow a 38% chance of resurrection if the whole party is Koed.Equip characters with shadow-absorbing equipment such as Pumice Piece,Ninja Gear or shadow-blocking equipment such as Egoist’s Armlet. Also,do not let any characters have any levels that are multiples of 4 and 5 as Ozma can use L4 Holy and L5 Death.

Zidane - Train Thievery until it can cause 9,999 damage. Each successful steal, irregardless of the item stolen and Zidanes level, increases the damage of Thievery based on the formula Damage = Speed of Zidane x Number of items stolen/2. Thievery can be learned with Angel Bless, bought in Treno early on in disc 3. This is the only attack he should be using. He can also help out by dishing out Phoenix Downs, Remedies and Elixers to other members. Trances will be immensely useful.

Garnet - If possible, take her as near to Trance as possible before the battle. Have 99 Garnets, also equip the ability Boost (if possible) and summon Bahamut. This will deal 9,999 damage to Ozma. With Garnet in Trance status, Bahamut will come for Garnets every turn. Also use her to cast Curaga on other members.

Vivi - If every characters has equipped shadow-absorbing armour and weapons, then use him to cast Doomsday on every turn. This may either heal or damage Ozma, but more importantly, it will heal your party. Double-Blk magic will be helpful, as Vivi can cast Double-Flare. Vivi should not use Meteor, as the damage factor is too random to guarantee sufficient damage will be done.

Steiner - Have Steiners Ragnarok and learn Shock. That is his only good attack. All other sword-techs are useless against Ozma. With Vivi, he can cast Flare-Sword. Have him throw necessary items as needed.

Freya - Kill lots of dragons and increase the damage of Dragons Crest to 9,999. This will be her only attack during battle. Have her throw necessary items as well.

Quina - Learn the following Blue Magic, White Wind, Magic Hammer, Frog Drop (only if the damage is more by 8,000), Angel Snack, Auto-Life. Quina's main job is to reduce Ozma's MP using Magic Hammer. Angel Snack should be used when the party is affected by Mini. White Wind will cure the whole party. If Frog Drop can cause good damage, use it for the whole battle.

Eiko - Let her learn the following White magics, Full-Life, Curaga, Esuna, and preferably Holy. Equip a Phoenix Pinion on her and learn the Phoenix summon. If possible, let her get to Trance and make full use of her Double-White magic. She will be the main healer, occassionally casting Holy.

Amarant - Have lots of Wind Edges, learn Aura and Chakra and let him Trance. Throw Wind Edges when attacking, and cast Aura and Chakra on everyone.

Points to take note of:

The most frequent moves of Ozma are Meteor, Curse, Doomsday and the occassional Death spell. If you are lucky Ozma will cast some white magic such as Mini, Berserk or Curaga. If the friendly monsters side-quest is not done, remedy the character with Berserk. Also, by using shadow absorbing equipment, Doomsday spells by Ozma will be your friends. The most likely way you will be ko'd is being hit by Meteor which does 9,999 damage to everyone, with Auto-Life kicking in, followed by an unblockable Curse. Ozma seldom uses L4 Holy and L5 Death if no characters levels are multiples of 4 and/or 5. Ozma is one, big, clever ball. Also, if you are confident enough, try to steal from Ozma the following: Elixer, Dark Matter, Pumice Piece and Robe of Lords. All these items are really good, provided you can win the battle. You will win a Pumice for this battle, which teaches Garnet the Ark summon.

Our best recommendation for winning the battle

Recommended party: Zidane, Steiner, Quina, Dagger

Give everyone armour or other equipment that can guard against or absorb Shadow attacks. Equip all characters with Antibody, Clear Headed and Bright Eyes. Also give each character Auto-Haste and Auto-Regen. If your characters haven't learnt these abilities yet, you should learn them before you attempt to fight Ozma.

You shouldn't really have a problem in this battle unless Ozma decides to use Meteor. Shell will reduce the damage caused by this attack by 50%, so get Quina to cast Mighty Guard often. However, with Auto-Haste equipped, this will run out fairly quickly. Meteor is his most devestating attack, on a bad day this may wipe out your entire party for 9999 HP damage each.

Every character should have at least 5000HP before going into this battle to be able to survive most of his attacks; and try not to have anyone with a level at a multiple of 5.

If you haven't equipped Auto-Life before this battle, get Quina to cast it on all characters. With the abilities mentioned above equipped, Curse should only cause Mini; and this can be healed if Dagger casts Mini on the entire party, or Quina uses Angel Snack (but be warned, this will use up 4 Remedies.)

If you use any characters special moves, e.g. Steiners Shock, Ozma will counterattack by Berserking that character, so they will only be able to attack physically. Throughout this battle, Zidane and Steiner should be attacking physically. You can steal some good items, but it may be better just to fight the battle quickly. He drops a Pumice and a Dark Matter after battle anyway.

Doomsday will not be a problem; in fact, it may help you. If everyone is protected against Shadow magic you won't take damage and you may even absorb the attack; and Ozma himself isn't protected from Shadow attacks, so he will take about 5000HP damage by using this move.

Flare Stars damage is based on your characters current levels. It does 50x the current level in damage. So, for example, if you are level 1 it will do 50HP damage, if you are level 2 it will cause 100HP damage, etc.

Even with Auto-Haste equipped, you will probably only get 2-3 of your characters to attack in between his moves. However, the animation for most of his attacks will take a long time, so you don't really need to heal your characters much; the Auto-Regen should be sufficient.

Final Boss
Your party makes up your strategy for the battle. You can use all attackers and still win ( I did) or you can have a combined team of attackers and magic users. How you set up your party is important so keep that in mind.

I strongly recommend a team of Eiko, Quina, Freya and Steiner. These 4 can play the strongest offense + defense. Freya and Steiner can BOTH dish out 9999 per turn. Quina has Auto-Life, Mighty Guard, White Wind and Angel's Snack which really comes in handy. Eiko has the ability to cast Curaga, Haste (which I strongly recommend) and Full-Life. You'll need these as Necron can take 4 continuous turns in a row.

If Stenier is at low levels, use Amarant instead. He can also deal 9999 by throwing objects. Remember, this is the final battle, nothing is important so whip out anything, including the orihalcon or even the Ultima-weapon. You won't need these as this is the last fight you're going to make in the game.

ONLY use Zidane if Amarant and Steiner are at really low levels. His attacks are much weaker than their's and he's only going to be cannon fodder. If Freya can't deal 9999 with Dragon's Crest than use a different party member that can deal out as much damage as possible in one attack. Don't take Quina out of the party unless s/he is missing a lot of Blue Magic. Eiko is recommended as the healer instead of Garnet as Garnet can't cast Haste or Full-Life. If you're going to use Vivi make sure you give everyone armor that protects against Shadow, then in battle have him ONLY cast Doomsday. The spell will harm Necron but heal you for a lot, which is quite nice if Eiko is at really low levels or dies in the middle of the battle.

Now about equipping abilities. Don't bother with any Killer Types. Necron doesn't have a type so equipping one of those is a waste of magic stones. Second, I don't recommend using Auto-Regen OR Auto Potion in the case that Zombie is casted on your guys from Grand Cross. Chemist is suggested though as you can heal more when you're not zombied (which is needed). If you do have Auto-Regen or Auto-Potion on, chances are you're gonna die if Zombie is placed on to your character. If you don't want to take the risk of dieing, then don't equip Auto-Regen or Auto-potion. You can use Full-Life and then an Elixir to heal the injuries. Also, make sure that abilities like Level Up and Ability Up are taken off. This is the last battle, you won't get anything except the ending after it. Instead equip the following:

Auto-Haste-faster actions

Auto-Life-Instant pick me up from death

Everything that can protect you from status attacks. This includes, Body Temp., Insomniac, Antibody, Jelly, Bright Eyes and so on. Also use some common sense. If you're going to use Vivi or Eiko, chances are, you won't physically attack so don't bother with Bright Eyes. Equip your magic users with Half MP to reduce the cost of a spell. This might be really handy in a close fight.

As for the battle plan, have Zidane only attack if he's in your team. Stealing won't do you much help. Don't bother with his skills. They aren't that much of a help. His physical attack deals a lot more anyway.

If Garnet is in the party, have her cast defensive spells to reduce Necron's attacks and to heal the party. If she has a free turn summon Bahamutt. It'll deal more damage than ark. Espacially if you have a lot of Garnet stones.

Vivi should concentrate on casting Doomsday if you chose him. This spell would deal big damage to the boss but it'll recover you quite nicely. If you aren't protected against Shadow then have him cast Flare instead. Don't bother with the Reflect X2 tactic, you'll end up killing yourself over.

Steiner should just attack like Zidane. His normal attacks deal a lot. If his HP is low, then use Minus Strike, it will deal a good deal of damage to the guy and it can't be reduced. Use Climhazzard and Shock if he knows it. Both if these will deal around 9999 which helps make life easier.

Freya should repeatedly use Dragon's crest. It should deal 9999 if you fought against a lot of Dragons. Have her attack if she runs out of MP or if Dragon's Crest is only dealing around 3000.

Quina and Eiko play strict roles of healers. Don't let them die. Have Eiko use Full-Life on the dead or Phoenix if the pressure gets really tough. Otherwise, have her sit there and do nothing. If you waste her turn on something stupid, I got 10 dollars saying you'll die really quickly. Quina should just cast Auto-Life if anyone dies and Mighty Guard to keep the party in defensive mode. If he uses blue shockwave on Quina, Limit Glove. It'll deal 9999 instantly.

Amarant should throw any items and gil that you have left. They won't be much help anymore so just unload everything and let him have it. If Quina dies or isn't there, have him cast Aura to use Auto-Life

Also, don't be afraid to have an attacker do the healing. This is the last battle so use all your items. Elixirs become the essence here. Don't be afraid to use them now.
