FF10 Characters

Full of life and energy, a young man of seventeen finds himself caught between two worlds. In one moment, Tidus lives in the world of a star blitzball player; in the next, a world of a clumsy hero, traveling to find truth. Through his journey, Tidus will learn to love, hate, laugh, and cry; but most of all, he must face his past to save humanity.

In Zanarkand, Tidus was a blitzball star. His past troubled him. With his father missing and mother dead, a mysterious man named Auron guided him. As fate would have it, Tidus' world and the world of Spira overlap, permanently changing his life and leaving Auron as his only connection to Zanarkand in Spira.

Here, Tidus found a confusing world completely different from his. To make matters worse, his Zanarkand was said to have been in ruins for a thousand years. He was wary and frightened by the new world but his fears began to fade when he met a group of brave souls, who were willing to give their lives to bring peace to the people of Spira. Still confused, Tidus followed these people on a dangerous path that would bring both hope and sorrow to both of his worlds.

In battle, Tidus will be effective against quick ground enemies such as wolves, small lizards, and any other pesky vermin. As he progresses through the sphere grid, he will be able to hit pretty much any target. He will also acquire haste and slow spells to aid you in destroying your enemies. Tidus' portion of the sphere grid is the upper left. It has all of the needed abilities and upgrades that any beginning Tidus will need. We recommend that you keep on the path Square has provided and avoid straying out of the locks until later in the game.

Overdrive: Swordplay

Tidus' overdrive is a powerful set of sword skills that can devastate the enemy. Tidus acquires new overdrives based upon the number of overdrives he has successfuly completed. To execute a more powerful overdrive, you have to hit the X button as the arrow moves over the yellow area in the center of the guage.

A naive girl of seventeen thought she knew exactly how her life would unfold. She would follow in her father's footsteps and become the high summoner to defeat Sin, the mysterious force that terrorized Spira. She began her journey with the bright, determined eyes of a girl. As she progressed further, she would slowly mature into a woman.

Yuna was a child of seven years old when her father, Braska, defeated Sin. Seeing all the people of Spira celebrating the new Calm made her proud of him. But it soon dawned on her that Braska had sacrificed himself to bring peace to Spira. Her father was dead. Even so, she was still able to find a glimmer of hope within her devastation. One of her father's guardians had sent a gentle Ronso to her aid. Kimahri then took her back to Besaid, where she would train to become a summoner.

Her only goal was to defeat Sin, even if it meant her life.

Yuna will be most useful as a healer and protective magic user while in combat. She also is the only character that has the ability to summon Aeons. Aeons are very useful in combat. Their overdrives can bring a quick end to any combat situation. Along her journey, Yuna will encounter Belgemine, a fellow summoner. Make sure you challenge and defeat her all three times you see her. Doing so will allow you to raise your Aeon's abilities.

Overdrive: Grand Summon

Yuna's overdrive is the most effective in boss battles. Grand Summon will cause the summoned Aeon's overdrive to be full, allowing you to use the Aeon's overdrive right away. After the Grand Summon overdrive has been used, the Aeon still has the overdrive guage it had before the Grand Summon.

Celestial Weapon: Nirvana

Wakka’s dream is to be a blitzball champion one day. He wants it so much, that it sometimes interferes with his duties as a guardian. However, he swears he will give his all to guardianship after one last tournament, win or lose. He has his sights set on winning, because the team found a young man seemingly from nowhere with amazing blitzball skills, named Tidus.

Without blitzball, his mind wanders and brings up old memories. Lulu constantly berating him doesn’t help either. She often compares him to his younger brother, Chappu, who was killed in a battle against Sin. But now, he must concentrate on helping to fight the ultimate battle. To do this, he must come to terms with his past without endangering the lives of his companions.

When the game first begins, Wakka will be very useful in killing flying enemies. As the game progresses, he will be less useful, as Tidus becomes stronger and faster. Wakka's status attacks will help you to defeat many of the early bosses and those pesky fiends.

Overdrive: Slots

Wakka's overdrive is similar to Tifa's limit break from Final Fantasy VII. As you activate Wakka's overdrive, you will play a game of slots based off the reels you have selected. Line up all of the same symbols for the best effect. New reels must be won by winning Blitzball games.

He knows what Yuna and her guardians will have to go through but will only give them vague guidance. They must be allowed to unravel their stories themselves.

An elusive man, Auron tries to keep his own story secret but he sees his young self in Tidus. Auron must tell his story for Tidus’ sake before it’s too late.

Auron's main function when he enters battle will be to destroy any of the armored fiends you come upon. The majority of his weapons possess the Piercing ability, which will allow him to cut through the armor of shelled fiends. Auron will also be very effective later in game with his massive strength and health bonuses. Auron will also be the first to learn the Armor, Mental, Magic, and Power Breaks. He will also learn the Zombie Attack, which will allow you to kill an enemy with a phoenix down.

Overdrive: Bushido

Auron's overdrive is a set of sword attacks that will inflict major damage and some status effects. Lulu is seemingly the perfect woman, a model for younger girls to strive to become. However, her personality was a result of much suffering and loss. She fights Sin to avenge the lives of the loved ones he took from her. Despite her cold exterior, she can’t help but grow to care about her companions, as they progress through their journey. Her anger is her driving force but her love for the people is what gives her strength to see the hardships through.

At the onset of the game, Lulu will be your master of the black arts. She will possess the black magic that can destroy those annoying flan and any other physical attack resistant fiend. Make sure you always use the opposite magic when fighting elemental monsters. Doing so, will allow for maximum damage at the lowest cost. As Lulu progresses through the grid, her health and strength bonuses will be minimal and she will need more protection in battle than other characters. Her weapons are also quite cute but do very little physical damage.

Overdrive: Fury

Lulu's overdrive is one of the more unique ones in the game. She will cast spells at random targets, based off the number of times you rotate the right analog stick clockwise. Depending on the spell, it may take more than one rotation to cast the spell once. The spells are not affected by Shell, Reflect, or even Silence. Possible spells that you can select from are below.

Rikku would find this persecution everywhere, even among her friends but the only thing she can do is rise above it. To Rikku, what she must go through matters not. She must keep going forward with Yuna and the other guardians, for the sake of Spira.

When Rikku first joins your party, she will be the only person who can steal. Use this ability on bosses and tough enemies to gain some good items. She also has the Use command which will allow you to utilize the items that can only be activated with the Use command. When Yuna is not in your party, Rikku will act as an excellent healer with the use of Al Bhed Potions. These are very effective during the middle portion of the game but do not restore enough health later on.

Strength and courage is revered above all else by the Ronso tribe. Kimahri has these things but it is not enough for the other Ronsos. As a child, Kimahri was bullied for his smaller size. He tried to defend himself but only succeeded in angering the others. One of his bullies broke his horn, the ultimate disgrace for the tribe. Kimahri left Gagazet Mountain, the Ronso home, to seek his path on his own.

In the time of the Calm, Kimahri came upon a dying man, who asked him to find a young girl and take her to safety. In Bevelle, Kimahri found little Yuna mourning her father’s death. He took her to Besaid, where he would watch Yuna grow into a woman. Her wellbeing was soon all he cared about. His life was to protect her. However, he still had the memories of Gagazet and he would face them whether he wanted to or not.

Kimahri is the most versatile character in the game. His area on the sphere grid is very small and after completing it, you must choose where to go next. He can become a thief, magic caster, agile fighter, or a heavy hitter, depending on what path you follow. Kimahri will mainly serve as an attacker in your party, hitting whatever he can. Many of his weapons have piercing ability, making him useful against armored fiends.
