“Twos?”

“Go fish!” Quatre grinned shaking his head at Duo.

“You guys must be really bored,” WuFei stated in a disgusted tone.  “You know there’s a war or two out there.”

“Got any fours?” Quatre asked.

“Yup, I got two of ‘em,” Duo gave over his two fours; to join Quatre’s two.

“Oh…so you’re just gonna ignore me, hunh?” WuFei waked toward the table where they were sitting.

“Come on…we’re bored!” Duo said stretching.  “We haven’t been given a mission in days.”

“Besides-“ Quatre started.  Just then an alarm began to sound.

“Warning.  Warning.  Mobile suits detected.  Warning.”

“Well if it ain’t the call of duty callin’ us again,” Duo said as the three ran for there gundams.

*                *                *                *                *                *

Space was quiet.  She took a deep, slow breath.  Her systems were down.  The only thing working was the life support oxygen system…and even that was running down.  She slowly turned her head and shivered.  It was cold.  She opened her eyes.  A blurry vision of a battle came into focus.  From the looks of it, it must be mobile suits and…her heart flopped…Gundams!!  Her adrenalin rush gave her the warmth she needed, and she began to fix the audio transmissions.

*              *                *                *                *                *

“Looks like you guys had fun out there,” Trowa commented, helping Quatre down from Sandrock.

“I guess you could say that,” he replied.

                “They were weak!!” yelled WuFei

                “Aren’t they always?” Duo asked.

“Of course,” stated a female voice from the computer control panel in front of them.

“You were watching again, Miss Relena?” Trowa asked coldly.

“Yes.  I’m sorry,” she stood up.  “I was looking for-” suddenly a signal came in, interrupting her.

“Someone’s sending us a transmission,” Quatre said racing toward the controls.

“Hello?” called a female voice.  Duo looked up in surprise.  “Hello?  Can anyone hear me?”

“Yes, we can hear you…there’s a lot of static though,” Quatra responded.

‘That voice…’ Duo thought to himself.

“I’m looking for…I need help…my…has gone offline…I don’t have much time…I need to find…” her message was very broken up with static.

“I’m sorry, you’re braking up.  Could you please repeat?” Quatre said.  They waited but nothing came.

“I’m going back out there,” Duo stated starting to head for Deathscythe.

“Wait!” Relena said.  “Quatre, what kind of vessel is she in?”

“Um…” Quatre starting pressing buttons.  “It’s a type off mobile suit…oh my god!” he looked up in surprise.

                “What?” Trowa asked.

“It’s a gundam!” Quatre said in aw.

“I didn’t know that there were anymore gundams…” Relena pondered.

                “There’s not,” WuFei glared.

“I wonder…” Duo said quietly, thinking back.  ‘Dear Duo, Well, you’d be proud of me now.  I’ve managed to steal enough stuff from OZ to start building my gundam.  I don’t know what I’ll name it, but she’s sure to be an angel.’  Duo remembered a letter that a friend of his from a long time ago had written.  The only thing was that he thought that she was dead… “Quatrina,” he whispered.

“What?” Trowa asked, turning toward Duo.

“I’m going back out to get her,” Duo said.  And before anyone could stop him he ran off to his gundam.

*              *                *                *                *                *

“Oh holy shit!” she swore, starring at the red blinking light saying that the gundam was out of oxygen.  She quickly grabbed for her space suit and put it on…hoping that it would give her enough oxygen to last.  Just as she got it on, something gabbed on to her gundam and began to drag it.  She turned on what was left of the communications.

“If this isn’t her…then I swear…I’ll let Heero kill ‘em,” muttered a very familiar voice.  And with that her gundam went dead.

*              *                *                *                *                *

“Ok, let’s get whoever’s in there out,” Duo said jumping down from his gundam.  Trowa, Quatra, and WuFei all came running, as Duo climbed onto this new gundam.  “A pink mask?” he ask skeptically.  Then he saw the cockpit door coming opened.  “Hang on!  I’m coming!!” he helped the female out of the gundam.  She was wearing a pink space suit.

“Thank you, she said, jumping down to the ground with him.

                “A female!”  WuFei exclaimed.

“Yes a female!” she spat, then taking off her helmet, “What? Do you have a problem with it?!”  She shook her blonde ponytail out and looked up.  Everyone gasped and stepped back.  “What?” she asked, uneasy.  Quatre stepped off into the shadows.

“Qu-Quatrina?” Duo asked, stuttering not only because she was his friend from his childhood days, but also because she was the exact mirror image of Quatre.  She looked up at him.

“Do I…?” she began to ask, but then she recognized his braid.  “DUO!!!!” she screamed and flew into his arms.  “I can’t believe it!  They said that you had died when the orphanage was destroyed!”

“Me?  Dead?” Duo laughed.  “Me, the God of Death, dead?  Now isn’t that ironic?  But what about you?  They said that when OZ arrested you that they had killed you.”

“Why is everyone staring at me like that?” Quatrina asked quietly, stepping away from him.

“Well…um…because…” Duo started to try and find the right words.  “You see…you’re…um…the exact image of one of our friends, Quatre…”

“Oh?  Is that all?” she giggled.  “People are always saying that I look like someone else.”  Then she turned to WuFei.  “So what’s your problem with women?”

                “They’re weak!” spat WuFei.

“So are creepy little Chinese guys,” she glared.  “What’s your point?”  WuFie’s face turned red with anger at being called a creepy little Chinese guy.

“Ok boys and girls…that’s enough,” Duo said stepping between them.  “WuFei this is Quatrina, Quatrina this is WuFei.”

“H’lo,” she said as nicely as possible.  Duo put his arm around her shoulders and turned her toward Trowa.

“Quatrina, Trowa.  Trowa, Quatrina,” Duo said.

“Trowa Barton,” Trowa said holding out his hand.

“Quatrina Loneheart,” she said taking his hand and shaking it.  She was shocked.  In front of her was the most gorgeous guy that she had ever seen.  Her heart was racing as she felt something that she had never felt before.  She actually liked a guy…

“Nice to meet you,” Trowa said, brushing his bangs from his face and smiling.  She was beautiful.  He was beginning to think that he would never find anyone who was right for him, and now she showed up.

“And this is,” Duo said walking her over to Quatre and pulling him out of the shadows,  “is your reflection, Quatre.”  Quatrina gasped and jumped backwards.  She and Quatre locked eyes and all of a sudden images of dreams that Quatrina had had came flashing back to her.  Image of someone like her somewhere out there.  Quatrina held her head in her hands and staggered back.

                “Why…who…?” Quatrina whispered.

“Quatrina?” Duo asked worriedly as he went to help Quatrina stay standing up.

“I’m ok,” she said straightening up and putting on her ‘stage face’.  Holding out her hand to Quatre, she introduced herself, “Quatrina Loneheart.  It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Likewise.  I am Quatre Raberba Winner,” Quatre shook her hand.  He was kind of scared.  This was like looking into a mirror.

“There’s one more person I’d like you to meet,” Duo said breaking both Quatrina’s and Quatre’s concentration on each other.  “Actually two…but Relena doesn’t count.”

“You mean Relena Peacecraft?” she asked amazed.

“Yup…the one and only little brat” Duo growled.

                “Oh.”

“Hee-chan, where are you?” Duo called out.

“Right here, loud mouth,” came a deep voice from the shadows.  Quatrina glanced back toward Quatre.

“Hey Kati,” Duo said, turning her around.  “Quatrina this is Heero, Heero, Quatrina.”  Heero and Quatrina up at each other and gasped.  Before anyone could say ‘Gundam’ they both had pulled a gun out of nowhere and pointed at each other.

                “Whoa!” Duo cried, jumping back.

“I told you that if I ever saw you again, I’d kill you,” growled Heero.

“And I said, not if I killed you first,” Quatrina’s eyes slanted to a glare.  “It was my mission and you had no right to be there in my territory!”

“Your mission? Somehow I don’t think so,” Heero glared and cocked his gun.

“Oh so you really are going to kill me?” she said.

“Well I don’t see you shooting at me first,” Heero gave a small smile.

“Well then do it Heero.” Quatrina said.  “Kill me! What are you waiting for?” She threw her down at Duo’s feet.

“He guys....come on…let’s all work together?” Duo said his voice full of concern.

“If you’re going to kill me…then get it over with,” tempted Quatrina.  “What are you waiting for, Heero, kill me!” She walked forward and put the gun tip right against her heart.  Quatre gasped and whispered something.  WuFei turned and left and Trowa just stood silently.

“No,” Heero said quietly, putting his gun down and walking away.  Quatrina’s eyes shook for a moment before she fell to her knees, sobbing.  Duo looked from the direction that Heero and gone, to Quatrina, and back, before he took off calling after Heero. Quatre and Trowa exchanged glances and walked over to the small, blonde girl.

“Are you ok?” Quatre asked, softly laying a hand on her back and kneeling.

“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, looking up.  “I don’t usually act this way, but when you’ve been through what I’ve been through, then every time someone points a gun at you, you wish to God that they would pull the damn trigger.”

“Oh…” Trowa said quietly to himself.  He looked at her eyes and saw pain on top of anger on top of loneliness.

“It’s ok,” Quatre said kindly.  He felt her pain and sorrow and it was more that he could bare.

“Kati!” Duo said cheerfully walking back in.  Quatrina looked up and grinned the same childish grin that Quatre was famous for.

                “Kati?” Trowa asked skeptically.

“It’s a pet name…” Quatrina said with a small giggle as Duo helped her up.

‘Cute…’ thought Quatre standing up and grinning.

“So whatch ya wanna do, Kati?” Duo asked cheerfully.
“Well,” yawned Quatrina.  “I am kind of tired.”

“Say no more,” Duo said.  “We’ll get your luggage and get ya a room.”

“Okies,” she said, walking over to her gundam’s leg.  She opened up a compartment and brought out a small duffle bag and an instrument case.

*              *                *                *                *                *

“She seems nice,” Trowa commented to Quatre.
“She seems familiar…” Quatre said, looking distant.

“Well duh!” Duo said.  “She looks exactly like you…well except for the female anatomy and the ponytail.”

“No…not her looks…although you are right…it’s something else,” Quatre said trying to sort out his thoughts.  “Almost as if she were a part of me that had been missing and now that she’s here…it’s not missing anymore…”

“She seems to be in a lot of sever emotional pain,” Trowa stated, remembering the pain in her eyes.  “Duo…how do you know Quatrina?

“Well she and I were at the same orphanage on the L2 colony,” Duo explained.

“What do you know about her past?” Quatre asked.

“Well…she lived on the streets of the L4 colony, before coming to the orphanage…and then about a year after coming to the orphanage, she was adopted,” Duo said.  “And that’s about all that I know.”

“Oh,” Quatre said with a sigh.

“Why don’t you ask she more about it, Quatre?” Trowa suggested, wishing that there was some way that he could make his friend be happier.

                “Ok…maybe…” Quatre said thoughtfully.

“Yeah…maybe she likes tea, tea boy!” Duo said, teasing Quatre about always drinking tea.  “And then you two could talk about her past over a cup of tea…assuming that she’s a tea girl…” he added.

“Yeah…maybe…” and with that the blond boy stood up.

“So she wanted you to kill her?” Relena asked in disbelief, wrapping her arms around Heero’s waist and resting her head on his back.

                “Yeah.”

“That’s insane,” she said…and then she drew closer to his ear and began to kiss it.

“Relena stop,” Heero shrugged her off.

“But Heero…” Relena said coming to stand in front of him.

                “No…not tonight,” he growled.

“Heero it’s my last night here…I won’t see you for another three weeks,” she complained.
“Longer that that Relena,” he said in the coldest of his cold voices.  “We’re over.”

                “NANI?!” she gasped.

“I don’t love you anymore, so we’re over,” he said, not looking at her.

“De mo…” she whispered. “I love you Heero…”

“No! We are THROUGH!!” he yelled at her.  She looked at him for a moment and then ran from the room crying.  Heero sighed and flopped down onto the bed.  “Well there I did it.”

“But did you have to be so harsh about it?” Duo asked walking out of the shadows.

“Yes.”  Duo climbed onto the bed and laid his head on Heero’s stomach.  “She was beginning to be no fun.”

“Am I fun koibito?”  Duo asked entwining his fingers with Heero’s.  Heero gently slid Duo off of him and onto the bed, pinning his hands down.  Their eyes locked and Heero leaned down and kissed his God of Death passionately.

“Does that answer your question, my little death machine?” Heero asked paring from Duo’s lips.

“More.” Was all that Duo said as he and Heero began their passion play.

*              *                *                *                *                *

Quatrina was unpacking her small amount of clothes and putting them in a small dresser next to a small desk.  She had taken a shower and changed into pants and a spaghetti strap tank top.  Her damp hair was down.  ‘I’ll have to find Duo and get him to braid it for me,’ she thought with a small smile.  Her big brother, Duo Maxwell.  That’s what he had said that he was…a long time ago.  Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

“Come in! It’s open!” she called.

“Hi,” said Quatre, poking is head in.  He flashed her a child’s grin, which she returned.  He stepped inside with a tray and two cups of tea.

“Hi,” she greeted.

“I though that maybe we could have a cup of tea and talk?” Quatre asked setting the tray down on the desk.  He looked next to the tray and saw a hand drawn picture of a woman who looked a bit like him and Quatrina.  “Who’s this?”

“Oh, that,” Quatrina drew in a deep breath.  “She’s my mother.”

                “Oh…who drew it?”

                “I did.”

“Oh…what happened to her…if you don’t mind my asking,” he said looking at her.

“I really don’t know…I never knew any of my family…I don’t really know if I even have family or not…” Quatrina said sitting down on the floor with her cup of tea.

“Then how could you draw her?” he asked joining her with his cup.

“She visits me in my dreams,” Quatrina said. “So…what’s you’re mother like?”

“I-I don’t have a mother.”  Quatre said and then his eyes slanted in a small glare.  “I was created in a test tube so that my father could have an heir.”

                “Oh.”  Quatrina fell silent.

“Tell me about your past,” Quatre said, his face softening.

“My past?” Quatrina was startled. No one had ever wanted to hear about her past.  Quatre nodded and so Quatrina continued, images of her past floating into her head and eyes.  “Well, I was found by a local on the streets of the L4 colony, in an ally to be exact, when I was just a few days old.  After I was cared for by these people, something happened and they were forced to live on the streets as homeless people.  That’s where I grew up, was on the streets of the colony.  When I was old enough the talk and walk I began to steal stuff but just being a cute little girl with big blue eyes and soft blonde hair.  As I grew I found the being sweet wasn’t good enough and so I found more direct approaches.  I befriended a boy who became one of my good friends.  His name was Greg and he and I found it easier to steel, pickpocket, and exedra when there was two of us.  But he didn’t last long.  He stole away on a shuttle headed for earth, but it never made it.  Extremists who didn’t like the Earth-sphere alliance and OZ destroyed it, and I never saw him again.  Soon the L4 authorities decided that I was too much of a bother for them and decided to ship me off to another colony, and then put me into an orphanage.  I was 8.  Well, that’s where I met Duo.  After a year there, I was adopted out to the Hearts, a young family who already had a child, but wanted another.  The other child, a boy who was 14, four years older than me and best friend with Treize Khushrenada.  In fact the whole family was friends with the Khushrenadas.  Treize’s father was the head of OZ and my adopted father worked side-by-side with him and my adopted mother was his secretary.  That’s when I started to steal things again, and very soon because as good as any thief from any myth or legend.  I began to steel from OZ, parts to make my own mobile suit; my own gundam.  It was during this that I met Zechs Merquise.  Some how I had gotten the impression that I was in love with him…maybe it was because he was in love with me…I’ll never know.  But I was he who betrayed my to OZ.  After I had built my gundam I left, vowing to never again return.  But no sooner had I left the colony then OZ found me, captured me, and imprisoned me.  I was in prison for three years…me…I was only 11 and they had me in prison with murders and rapists.” Quatrina choked down a sob remembering the nightmare she went through.  Quatre place his hand on hers, feeling the pain and terror that she had gone through.  Quatrina continued.  “For three years I endured harassment and sexual harassment, rape and beatings.  But then I escaped and destroyed the base; the prison that had held me.  Then I began to take various missions from the scientists, and they helped me finish Tenshi.  And now I’m here.”

Quatre’s eyes shook and tears continues to fall from Quatrina’s eyes.  “The streets were cold and empty…space was ten times worse.  On the streets it was’ fight or be beaten’, in prison it was ‘hurt or be hurt’, and in space it’s ‘kill or be killed’.”

“I’m so sorry,” Quatre said bowing his head, “I should have never asked.”

“No, it’s ok…I was actually hoping that one of you pilots would ask me,” Quatrina said, wiping away the last of her tears.

“So why do you look like each other?” Quatre wondered out loud.

“I don’t know…I was found in an ally, with a note saying that my name was Quatrina, and you said the you’re a…”

                “Test tube baby…” Quatre finished.

“Hm…who knows maybe it’s just a glitch, “she said.

“Maybe. Well I’d better get to bed,” Quatre said standing up.

“Ok, yeah.  Hey thanks for tea, Kat…is it ok if I call you Kat?” she asked.

“Only if I can call you Kati,” he grinned.

                “Sure thing!” she grinned back.

“Well if you need anything, my room’s across the hall, Trowa’s room is to you right, Duo’s is to you left, and Heero’s is next to mine…although you might not want to bug him…oh and Duo most likely wont be in his room,” he said.

                “Doushite?” she asked.

“He’s with Heero right now…and they’ll be together for most the night,” Quatre said.

                “Ok,” she shrugged.

                “Goodnight Kati,” Quatre said.

“Goodnight Kat,” Quatrina said as Quatre walked out.

*              *                *                *                *                *

She woke with a start.  Shivering and covered in a cold sweat, Quatrina turned on the nightstand lamp.  “Ugh…0500 hours…” she groaned looking at her watch.  She flung her legs over the side of the bed and sat up.  She reached for her gun belt, which was under her pillow and put it on.  She kept her gun in the small of her back so she could get to it fairly easily and where it wasn’t noticed.  Quatrina stood up and stretched.  There was no point in going back to sleep, the dream would just return.  She opened up her instrument case and took out her viola.

*              *                *                *                *                *

Trowa opened his eyes.  He was hearing the most beautiful song in his dream.  “Huh…that’s funny…I can still hear it,” he said to himself.  The he realized that it wasn’t a dream.  Someone was playing the viola.  It sounded like it was coming from next door.  He got up and put on his usually jeans and a turtleneck.  After brushing his hair he left his room and went to find the source of the music.  Once he got out into the hall he found that it was coming from Quatrina’s room.  Trowa knocked on the door.  The music stopped and he heard footsteps.

“Who is it?” came her voice from the other side of the door.

“Trowa.”  The door opened and there stood Quatrina in pink flannel pajamas.   She was holding her viola and bow in one hand and the doorknob in the other.

“I’m sorry, did I wake?” she asked concerned as he walked in and she shut the door.

“No,” Trowa lied.  “That was beautiful.  Where did you learn to play?”

“I-I taught myself,” Quatrina said, putting her viola away in its case.

“You what?” Trowa’s eyes widened.  Before she could say anything (ah! X Japan!!! …*ahem* on with the story! ^^V) Quatrina’s laptop began to beep.  She rushed over to it and typed something.  Data filled the screen.

“Damn it!” Quatrina cursed, typing in something else.

                “What?” Trowa asked looking worried.

“That bastard!” Quatrina fumed as she shut down that program and brought up a communications one.

                “What’s wrong?” Trowa asked again.

“He gave me a mission,” she said bluntly.

“Yes?” came a voice from the other side of the line.

“Get me Dr. J,” she ordered.

“I’m sorry miss but…” he started to say.

“Get me Dr. J or I’ll have my gundam on your ass before you can say ‘angel’!!” she yelled.

“Yes ma’m!” he said in a frightened hurry.  A few minutes later Dr. J was on the other end.

“Ah, Quatrina, my dear how are you?” he asked.

“Not too swell.  You gave me another mission after I told you that Tenshi was down.” She said.

                “So take Heero’s gundam.”

“HELL NO!!!!” she screeched. “Heero’s gundam scared the crap out of me! Please just ask one of the other pilots?”

                “No.”

                “But…”

“Quatrina I want you to have this mission…I gave it to you specifically because it is the L4 colony that is in danger from the mobile dolls.  You have been far too suicidal lately and maybe, just maybe…when you save this colony then you will install a little more faith in yourself.” He explained.

“But I don’t have a gundam,” Quatrina said exasperatedly.

“ Take Deathscythe Hell,” a deep voice from the back of the room said.  Quatrina and Trowa turned to see Duo standing with his arms folded.

“Duo…” Quatrina said, then she turned back to the screen ad Dr. J.  “Alright I’ll take it.”

“I’ll go with you,” Trowa volunteered. “You can’t do it alone.”

“Thanks,” she said.  “Oh, Dr. J, can you do me a favor?”

                “What is it little one?”

“Could you look up the hospital record form the L4 colony for 15 years ago in December.  Look for any children born to…Quaterine… Quaterine Raberba Winner.”

“Hm…yes I suppose that I could do that.”

“Very well then, Mission:” Quatrina reached for the off button and pressed it.  “Accepted.”

                “Kati-, who’s…” Duo started.

“Quaterine was my mother’s name.  Quatre thinks that he’s a test tube baby, but if that were the case then he and I would look nothing alike.  But he and I are reflections and so the only explanation would be twins.”  She explained.

                “Oh…that makes sense,” Trowa said.

“Thank you Duo…for letting me…” Quatrina started.

“No prob, Kati,” Duo said, “But since you’re riding in the death mobile, you have to introduce yourself as the angel sent by the God of Death, ok?”

“Well…I’m already the Angel from Hell…what’s the difference?” she asked.

“I dunno, but you have to do that ok?”

“Ok.” She gave him a hug, “Thanks!”

“I’m going to go and get ready,” Trowa said.  Quatrina nodded.

“I’ll go warm up Deathscythe for ya,” Duo said.  Quatrina walked over to the dresser and took out jeans, a white tube top, and a green flannel shirt.

                “Okies!” she grinned.

‘Damn she’s a lot like Lil,’ thought duo walking out and shutting the door.
