Starting out with a 1973 Colt 340 Fan and lots of different parts, my Dad's Christmas present slowly takes form....

- Engine cases are from a 1974 Charger 400 (bored to accept larger sleeves and pistons, decked to accept different cranks (explained below)).
- Heads from the same (74 Charger), but bored to accept the larger piston.
- Cylinders are from 2 Colt (non SS) single fan engines.
- Pistons/ring set were new from eBay.
- Crank is from a 1982 Cutlass SS 440. (This being my downfall, as you will see later, although they all share the same stroke, the con rods are shorter!)
- Engine mount plate is from two (one 74/one 75) stretched to accept correct rubber mounts and case bolt spacing.
- Electrical is CDI (crank dictated electrical style, points flywheel would not fit.)
- Coil plate is 1971 Charger points plate because of smaller diameter of '82 coil plate. Custom CDI Coil pack mount.
- Carbs 1975 Colt SS (for now).
- Clutch is a Comet 102C from ???????
- Frame is 73 Polaris Colt 340 Fan
- Hood 73 Colt 340 Fan less the front grill and a bit of fiberglass for the pipe.
- Exhaust manifold is squeezed '82 Cutlass, pipe is half '82, half 92 Arctic Cat EXT (I think).
- Recoil is a 1971 TX 400 with a custom spacer from another recoil housing to make up for the longer 'SS crankshaft. Recoil cup was also cut and welded shorter to minimize spacer thickness.
- Side speedo mount from '72 Colt 250 single.
- Temp gauges (spark plug thermocouple style) from eBay.
