Three

Dias knows both Vy Low (Scarface) and Kai Ling (Crimson). They were comrade-in-arms during their youth. Dias gets along better with Crimson than Scarface.

Before the battle of Blourdahan, Crimson visited Dias and asked him to take a medicine for his illness. Dias refused to take it, claiming that he should not resist against the evitable outcome.

Scarface, on the other hand, seems to show little concern where Dias is involved. The two men also have a difference of opinion on how Gau should develop as a fighter.

Unfortunately, the relationships and pasts between these three is only hinted in the anime. Please refer to the Tribute section for detailed analysis of certain moments in the series where Dias is concerned.

Death in the light

Dias dies in the series! :( It took me a while to get over that; eventhough, it was likely he was going to die ever since the episode he first appeared in. I can understand Elle's difficulty. It is never easy to deal with a loved one's impending death.

Dias' Death is honorable. I consider the fight between him and Darkness the best one in the whole TV series. Please refer to the Tribute Section for an analysis of this episode Kanon and to the scripts section where you can find the complete Dialogue script for this episode.

In the episode after Kanon, there is this mysterious dialogue between Crimson and Darkness. It implied that Dias was not "Dead." He wasn't exactly alive either. He also appears to be a key in Lunaris Umbra's coming.

Sword of Ashilana

^^V Dias Ragu is the Sword of Ashilana, awarded by the Holy Princess herself. Elle received the title in honor of her brother.

Such an honor is the highest possible in all of Ashilana. Because, Dias was chosen, it also meant that his home city of Kuruda is Juliannes' foremost protector. The other three cities complained about this, but their dissatisfaction was restrained out of deference to the tradition. By chosing Dias as Sword of Ashilana, the faith and continued existence of the Holy Kingdom rested on Kuruda's fighters.

Summoned Spirit

Gau Ban actually summoned Dias. In the last episode, Dias appeared and told Gau to fly. If you haven't seen the anime, it's hard to describe it properly.
