WARRIOR GODS OF THE SKY
AND MOUNTAINS
HAROERIS

The Egyptian God of the Sky.  In the pyramid texts he is the son of RA and brother of SET.  Haroeris is the Greek form of HAR WER, his Egyptian name, and translates as Horus the Elder (or Horus the Great).

MARS

In Roman mythology, he was the son of Jupiter and Juno:  he was the God of War.  Mars was regarded as the father of the Roman people because he was the father of Romulus, the legendary founder of Rome, and husband to Bellona.  He was the most prominent of the military gods that were worshipped by the Roman legions.  The martial Romans considerd him second in importance only to JUPITER.  His festivals were held in March (named for him) and October.  Mars was identified with the Greek Aries.

ODIN

In Norse mythology, his is the supreme God.  The God of Wisdom, Poetry, Magick, and War.  He belonged to the Aesir race of gods.  Among his many names is All-Father, for he is the father of all the gods.  There are two tales about how he acquired great wisdom.  One is when he hanged himself on the world tree for nine days and nights and was pierced by a spear.  This was a spiritual death in which he sacrificed himself to himself.  The second is that he sacrificed an eye for the privilege of drinking from Mimir, the fountain of wisdom.  He had two black ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), who flew forth each day to gather the news of the world to bring back to Odin.  His greatest treasures were Sleipner (an eight-legged horse), a Gunger (a spear) and Draupner (a ring).

ZEUS

In Greek mythology, Zeus was the God of the Sky and ruler of the Olympian Gods.  He was the Rain God, and the Cloud Gatherer, who wielded the terrible thunderbolt.  His breast-plate was the aegis, his bird the Eagle, his tree the Oak.  He is represented as the God of Justice and Mercy, the Protector of the Weak, and the Punisher of the Wicked.  As husband to his sister HERA, he is the father of ARIES; The God of War, Hebe; The Goddess of Youth, Hephaestus; the God of Fire, and Eileithyia; The Goddess of Childbirth.  Zeus' image was represented in sculptural works as a kindly, bearded figure.  Zeus corresponds to the Roman God JUPITER.
