I Seek the Shadows

I seek the shadows gently, my haven near the dark,
appraise them for their insubstantial solace.
Crushed velvet wraiths, of nonexistence parts,
curtains holding back, the denizens that know us.
I seek the shadows simply, they hold my peace of mind,
against the barren wasted glare of sunlight.
No distracting range of colors coming from all sides,
a pallet set in tones of black and white.

I seek the shadows safety, within the fear abates,
heart and mind recover from the world.
A passage shunted to the dark, where reality is shaken,
dispersed behind the darkened shadows curl.
