ROAD TEST by Stephen Walker |

For reasons unknown, Saab doesn't have that trendy feeling you get with Audi and BMW. Yet the comfort level and the drivability is quite good. It's quite pleasing in fact. The 9.3 convertible is a much more attractive proposition than the former Saab 900 convertible. In fact, let's forget about the 900!
The leather interior of the 9.3 is comfortable and it presents well. The rear seating room is relatively good for two. Luggage space is a little short, as you would expect from a convertible. But there is room for several overnight bags, though.
The top goes up and down relatively quickly. It's an easy one slide button operation, with a manual lock down/release.
The stylish presentation of the 9.3 suits the top down image. An unusual feature, when driving top down, is that a normal conversation can be had, whilst driving at city speeds.
Performance is good, when you put your foot down..... it goes! And it goes when commanded.
If you think the Saab's image is somewhat staid, you better drive the 9.3 before jumping to any further conclusions!
