Does violence decrease with time
To this question, there seems to be a negative answer. One of the evidence to this conclusion is that violence has never appeared to dwindle away throughout the five-thousand-year history of the development of the human society.
As early as the ancient Egypt was formed as a slave society, violence, the unlawful conduct of strong physical force, had been etched on the epic of the progress of mankind. It was based on the inequality between different classes, referring to slave-owners' oppression of their slaves specifically. As long as their "speaking tools" were trying to get out of control, these cruel accessories to the ruling class would use military force, the highest form of violence exerted by the nation, to crush the slave's resistance. Without violence, there wouldn't have been the awesome pyramids and Sphinx, there couldn't have been the three thousand years of civilization of that dessert state, neither to the advance of even a trifling step of our human society. The reason is that people at that time weren't be capable of working together with full effort to improve the productive force of their country or tribe without the presence of violence.
Since then, this special feature of the class society has been accompanying man for a long history. Ever since it firstly emerged, the importance of violence of the government hasn't ever decreased regardless of the development of the general quality of mankind. Through feudal and capitalist society, landlords and capitalists uses their force of state apparatus to take control of the peasantry and workers. Of course, legislation is becoming more predominant in the national regulation, but events like revolt or simply a medium demonstration could make all the laws useless in fact. At this time, the order of the world will be disrupted easily unless suitable violence is exerted. At present, people are not yet advanced enough to live without it.
There may be a lot of objection to violence all over the surface of the earth, with the current booming development of global substance prosperity as time elapsed by. But to a deeper degree, we must recognize that it is unavoidable. Can't you see the barbaric coups in Fiji and Solomon Islands? Citizens from the same country plotted to kill eliminate each other, leaving unfathomable pools of blood and grief. Can't you see the gory massacre in Yugoslavia committed by NATO? The country of human right was leading the guard of the Atlantic to trample on thousands of friendly residents. What have they got? Barely violence. Is that the panacea to their insatiable hunger of power? Never, things can only continue degenerating until having become incorrigible.
All the facts imply that violence is unable to be swept out of our life, and that is the present situation that won't be changed in the next few decades also. Even though our society is tending to be more and more civilized, it can be felt everywhere: routine work, mundane study, and even in leisure time. Notice those movies adults are watching, games kids are playing? People are certainly experiencing violence anywhere, the only difference is that they might not be the sufferer at that moment, but some day. Time won't efface the tumor of malign conducts on its own, the hope of mankind won't arrive until the height of our social consciousness is raised to the plane of communism one day, or otherwise, at least there cannot exist oppression, exploitation, segregation, discrimination as well as egoism. Who's ever considered this as reality?
