"what's happening to us?"

he grinned that evil, knowing smile that sent mechanical chills down her spine

desperate and naive, they had fled the familiarity of everything they ever knew

for that other life of glamour and greed they'd always wished they could have

passing out in their own bathroom, naked and content. their own crimson blood mixing together in tiny streams to soak the dingy tile floor

she could never do what they did alone

he didn't realize what he had become

it swallowed him in beyond the point of return

she kept him partially sane

he knew she did her best

she got scared, he reassured her

they could never go back

they could never leave the comfort it brought them

it was all theirs, but they were lost and alone

vacant and numb

it was all they felt

they knew they had everything, and nothing could keep them away

they lived for the emptiness until their black rainbow started to turn grey

bleeding and desolate, they couldn't turn back

passing out in the bathroom, broken and discarded

beautifully anonymous
