Jun 22 - Couldn't resist. Set up one watec-75mm pair.LM of sytem is mag +8.5. 15 minutes later a fast meteor enter FOV with ~3 degree trails right in the middle of the 5 degree view in upper Crux. 'Burn-up' trail is broad accompany with thin terminal trail. Again my recorder is NOT on. Several sats were detected in the FOV with one fairly bright and slow sat that flashes slowly. Like a slowly pulsating beacon.
Later in the night explore the constellation of LUPUS together with my daughter (age :6) on the TV screen. We also saw M7, M6 and M4 and she had a good time tracing the stars on SkyAtlass 2000 and verfiy those on the TV screen. Yongest stargazer in the making ?
Jun 26 slight hazy sky. Gone downstair to check for June Bootes, none were seen in the hazy sky. Back home continue my watec-sky scanning -no meteors were detected. However seen some interesting sats 'conjuction' and a dim sat crawling like a ant crossing the FOV. Close to mid-nite the sky seems to clear up. Did a quick naked eye star-hopping with the handly 21-years old Norton Star Atlas:exploring the 'Southern' Triangle and ARA. Scorpion was lying on its side, with M7 visible unaided.
Jun 27 00 Woke up to a clear sky. On my way to work seen Jupiter pair up with Saturn leading to a moon. Weather balloon at Eunos (alt~ 70-80 degree, AZ=NW) shinning like a diamond at 7:43am!
July 02. Scattered clouds.Nevertheless the LM of my watec-75mm lens pair system reached LM +9.7!! Exploring open NGC clusters from the 'String' of SCO to Crux. While observing 6xxx, 22:25? a short (<1 degree) meteor appear in the East of this cluster and streaming towards it! The characteristic 'fan-out' burn-out trail is clear visible. One unknown sat (mag +3.0) around 9:22pm? entered FOV. It dimed quickly as it entered earth's shadow. Various NGCs open clusters were seen. First time viewed NGC5128 or 'Centarus A' - a 'misty'-mag+6.8 patch enclosed with 3 centre stars.
Jul 05 - Did a quick watec-75mm lens scan. Nothing exciting seen in tonight poor sky.
Jul 10 - Despite a nearby moon, did a quick sky scan. No meteors detected. A couple of sats drifted in FOV. One of them had a complex flashing pattern. It's brightnest increase slowly with a quick flash following by another slow increase but with a much brighter and sharper flash. The alternative pattern of flashers does not seems to be regular.
Jul 11 - Early risers these two days probably enjoyed a better clear sky. The Saturn-Jupiter pair is alt >45 degree around 6:43am ( knowing Comet S4 should be pretty high up now).
Try to wake up earlier tomorrow..
Jul 16 0 hrs - pre-eclipse video taping the about to full moon using color ccd.
