The Order of the Phoenix DISCLAIMER: Please do not write any angry emails protesting theories. Send in your counterpoint with proof and I'll post it on the site.

- Not only the title of the website, it's believed to be a group of witches and wizards in the next book. What could it be?
Group of Aurors That Are Against Voldemort
- Likely, but somehow too obvious
- Possible members: Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape (?), Remus Lupin, Mundungus Fletcher, Sirius Black, Lily and James Potter, Arabella Figg
- Each member could have their own phoenix.
- It might've been formed after Voldemort disappeared instead of during the height of his power.
- On the other hand, is this what the Dark Force Defense League is for?
Ancient group of witches and wizards secretly formed for an unknown reason
- It may have been started by Godric Gryffindor to defend against the Dark Arts. Hey, if Slytherin can have a chamber of secrets, why can't Gryffindor have a secret order?
- Fawkes could have been Gryffindor's phoenix or he had another one. Phoenixes can survive for many centuries, because they are always reborn.
- Gryffindor's colors are that of a phoenix (red and gold).
- The group could've been founded to protect the secrets to immortality. Nicholas Flamel may also be a part of it.
An Award
- I suppose it could be a secret award, but it's not plausible.
- narfydude says: I want to say that the Order of the Phoenix might be like the Order of Merlin. I read in Fantastic Beasts and Creatures that the phoenix is a bird that strikes fear in the evil heart and gives courage to the pure of heart, which is something that dumbledore does (He always has words of wisdom and encouragement to Harry and scares Voldemort.)
Random Speculations
- Harry may join the Order at the end of the book.
- He may even receive a phoenix from Dumbledore.
- J.K. Rowling's titles are always objects or places that are pivotal moments in the book.
