Mexico!
I planed an one month trip to Mexico, starting from Texas, I took a bus south to Mexico City. Mexico was about to have it's independents day. But in the city I mostly enjoyed the Indian ruin. The pyramids and the valley of the dead, similar to the following pictures.
I continued to Acapulco to celebrate the independents day. There were great parties and discos. I really enjoyed Acapulco.
But on my way south from Acapulco I was robbed so I continued to ravel with Martin whom I in the robbery. Although we didn't have nothing much left we continued to enjoy ourself on the beach of Porto Angelo. We continued South to see the fabulous ruins of the Maya.
I don't have any pictures of my own (since my (my sister's) camera was stolen) but thanks to Martin that hide his Camera during the robbery I have those pictures from Palenque. The previous picture was of me with the Mexican hat, it is the first picture after we found out the camera didn't work. This picture is of Martin on the background of the palace ruins.
The ruins are in the heart of the jungle, in fact it was covered by it. That way the Spanish didn't find it.
Still in Palenque. On the left is that steep Pyramid. It is a leg breaking climb, but that didn't end with that. When you reach the top you find out that there are step down in the Pyramid not less then those on the outside! The worse thing is that after you are deep in the pyramid to reach a dead end with nothing much to see. Then there is not much choice then to climb all the way up... My legs hurt for a week after that day.
We continued to the Yucatan peninsula. This is me on the background of Zocalo of the city of Merida.
Chichen Itza, Pyramid El Castillo (Kukulcan-Pyramid) and you can (hopefully) Martin on the steps of the pyramid. It is a good eye exam.
Here you can see Martin a little bigger. See how steep this Pyramid is... forget that... better look at the lady on the right.
That is me after climbing that Pyramid. Of course after climbing so high and then looking around you feel... high. Getting down was a problem... because then you are faced down and see how high you are.
You can see a nice view of the jungle that continues till the horizons.
Me again on the background of El Caracol, something for the stars...
There were ruins that where amazing. (This is a good picture, good job Martin!)
Ball-Playground with me. By the way, the leader of the loser-team was killed! I didn't volunteer to be the leader. It was a very very hot day, I was melting not talking about Martin that came from cold Germany. So we that was the last ruin we saw in Mexico.
So we headed for the cherry of our trip. Isla Mujeres (Small Island in the Caribbean Sea): Martin and me and of course the perfect beach... working hard in doing ... nothing.
After a few days we became tired of doing nothing. So we took a snorkeling trip. You can see turtles in the water (dark things), but I looked at more interesting things.
Martin, having his time with a turtle.
My last day before flying back to Texas. We rented bikes and road around the Island. That was fun! But then tomorrow came.
I left back to Texas sadly, that it was all over. I really enjoyed by trip in Mexico even thou I had a bad experience with the robbery but of course I take it as an adventure that can not be bought with money.
Unfortunately since my camera was stolen in Mexico (during a robbery), I don't have any of my own pictures. Special thanks to Martin for letting me use his pictures. Martin's homepage at Muenchen: www.lrz-muenchen.de/~hofbauer
