MOUNTAIN EUCHRE

ROUND ROBIN PAIRINGS TUTORIAL

1. First and foremost  Mountain Euchre League keeps all natural pairings together.

2. Natural pairings are four (4) brackets whose winners will oppose each other in next round.

EXAMPLES:
Natural Pairings Not natural pairings

3. When announcing RR pairings always announce natural pairings first,  then pair up the players who are in brackets with a bye. If subs needed the bottom players get a sub.

4. Notice in the above two examples that the top player has a bye. This will always be true unless you are hosting a tourney with exactly 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, or 128 players.

5. Another tip to determining natural brackets is to count brackets starting at top. If bracket 1, 2, 3. or 4 has a bye then they are NOT natural pairings.  If brackets 5, 6, 7, and 8 have a bye - again it is NOT natural pairings. Looking at the example on the right above - counting down from top, bracket two says bye - therefore brackets 1, 2, 3, and 4 are not natural.  Also bracket 6 has bye - therefore brackets 5, 6, 7, and 8 are not natural.
But brackets 9, 10, 11, and 12 all have players names - therefore they ARE natural brackets.

Let's move on to test your knowledge of RR pairings.
