Will the Devil have his way because
pure thought overwhelms any deed?
Does the coward who lied to Eve
cower yet on his belly because of her?
Live! cried the serpent, those thousands
of years ago, seeking our damnation.
Rejoice in thought, and in knowledge,
yes, but never mind The Lord.
 
So it's yet the modern day, again,
when a slippery Snake calumniates.
And how does he lie so cunningly
when the thousands claim to have faith?
How does he lie so far from Eden
when we always say God's near to us?
Rejoice crowed the serpent, be well!
