Junior Band

This was our new venture for 2003

Starting in May 2003 the band decided to form a junior band to compliment the senior section.

At the moment 14 youngsters sit down on a wednesday at 6:30pm, just before the Main band practice

and enjoy rehearsing with their own conductor ALEX HEATON.

The junior band performed in their first concert with the senior band at the Christmas Festival in Nassington Church, and were very well recived.Many people were heard congratulating the young players.Senior band look out the youngsters are coming!!!!!!!!! The Christmas eve edition of The Stamford Mercury carried a report and Photo of some of the band members at rehearsal. We now have young people joining in with the seniors for both practices & performance.

27/5/04 Happy Birthday Junior Band!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Junior band celebrated its 1st birthday with a Concert for families and friends and also a large Chocolate cake. The concert featured some of the music that has been worked on over the past year. Two of the peices were new and very topical,"Football Crazy" featuring 7 modern football anthems,and the Walace & Gromit theme tune. Well done youngsters keep it up.

20/6/04 We have seen in the last couple of weeks more of our junior section joining with the Seniors.

As well as this due to other comitments the senior band percussionist was unable to attend a function so in stepped the juniors drummer, Simon, who did both bands proud in the way he played. Quite a few people were asking "how old is the drummer?" this gave a good oppertunity for us to promote the Junior band Keep it going young ones.
