The Heckler & Koch PSG-1 sniper rifle. When precision accuracy is needed, and money is no object, the gun of choice is the PSG-1. It's .308-caliber bullet means business. It comes equipped with the Hensolt 6x42 Telescopic sights. It is semi-automatic and can be used with either a 5-round or a 20-round magazine. The stock has both an adjustable butt plate and cheek plate, and the grip has a rest attached to stabilize the firing hand. The trigger pull is a modest 3.2 pounds.¹

The Barrett M82A1 "Light Fifty" is a very large sniper rifle used in military applications all over the world. The "Light Fifty" is semi-automatic and is operated by recoil. The bolt and barrel lock together at the instant of firing and both are allowed to retract into the receiver body. It fires the .50-cal BMG cartridge.²

The GAU-8/Avenger 30mm "Vulcan Cannon" is usually mounted on the A-10 Warthog Anti-Tank aircraft. It flings veritable clouds of ammunition at its targets, firing at a rate of 3900 rounds per minute. The GAU-8 typically fires three types of ammo: Armor-Piercing Incendiary (API), High-Explosive Incendiary (HEI), and Depleted Uranium (DU). A typical load for the GAU-8 would be a 4:1 mix of API to HEI. DU is used in most combat situations, however.³

The M-60 is a general-purpose machine gun. It was first introduced in the armed forces in 1960, and saw extensive usage in Vietnam. It's a 7.62mm gun, and it has a very high rate of fire for a personnell-carried weapon, 200-550 rounds per minute. It's a heavy gun at 10.4kg (22.93lb), but a soldier carrying the M-60 is a force to be reckoned with.4

Lightweight and accurate, the M4 is used for close quarter combat just like its larger cousin the M16. In addition, an attached M68 reflex sight allows for effective lethal fire at a range up to 500 meters. the M4 is gas operated, air cooled and highly reliable in field use. The Master Key incorporates a highly modified Remington Model 870 12 ga. shotgun attached under the barrel of the rifle. Named for its practical use in opening (removing) doors, the Master Key is a favorite among Delta Force operatives.5

The Kalashnikov AK-47 is a staple of the Russian Military, and also is widely used in the Chinese Army. It fires the 7.62x39mm cartridge at a cyclic rate of 600 rounds per minute. It has a muzzle velocity of 700 feet per second, or roughly 447 milese per hour. It's about 34.25 inches long, and weighs 4.3kg (9.47lb) with an empty magazine (or 4.876kg/10.74lb fully loaded). Pictured is the Spetsnaz model. The Spetsnaz were the Russian elite "commando spies." Spetsnaz is a contraction of SPETSialnoye NAZranie, or "troops of special purpose."

The H&K MP5K is a popular weapon with many civilian police forces as well as many SEAL teams. At less than 13 inches long, it is easily concealable and can even be hidden in and fired from a special briefcase. It fires a 9x19mm cartridge. It weighs less than five pounds (4.40) and is 12.80 inches long.
