The Toa are mighty warriors that came to help the Turaga when they were attacked by the Makuta..  Each Toa controls a force of nature - air, ice, water, fire, stone, and earth.  Although weaker than the Makuta, there is hope.  The Toa must find the Kanohi Masks of Power, which will increase their wisdom, skills, and abilities.  The more they collect, the more powerful they become.

Pohatu is the Toa of Stone.  He is so strong, he can practically move whole mountains.  He also has the ability to make rocks explode like bombs.  Pohatu is liked by all the Toa because he is very dependable.  His only fear is water: he can't swim.  Pohatu lives in the foothills of Mount Ihu.  He can even destroy boulders with one kick!

Onua is the Toa of Earth.  He was created by The Great Beings when the continents of the planet were forming from the molten lava.  Onua likes living below ground.  He uses his huge hands to scrape tunnels in the cliffs over Papu Niho Reef.  He has great eyesight at night, but poor eyesight in daylight.  He has good hearing, he can hear

Kopaka is the Toa of Ice.  He can use his ice blade to melt through ice, and even cause avalanches with one strike.  Kopaka prefers to work alone, but will join forces if his life depends on it.  The Tohunga believe Kopaka brings the winter, and long cold nights.  Kopaka is most at home on the ice and snow of Mount Ihu.  He skis on the slopes of the Mountain.

Lewa is the Toa of Air.  He is the youngest of the six.  The Tohunga believe that Lewa controls the skies, clouds and the wind.  He is practically monkey like, and is at home in the treetops of the jungles around Kauae Bay.  Lewa's axes cut easily through vines.  He is always ready to jump to conclusions, and is usually the first one to get into trouble.

Tahu is the Toa of Fire.  Tahu is the oldest of the Toa.  He was created by The Great Beings when the planet was forming.  He is the most fierce of the Toa.  Tahu lives near the Mangai Volcano, where he surfs the hot lava flows.  He helps control the lava flow, by cutting through rocks, so the lava continues to reach the ocean.  Tahu has the least patience of the Toa.  He is very hot-tempered.

Gali is the Toa of Water.  Gali is the only female of the six.  She is young, but incredibly wise.  Gali has the ability to control water.  She can unleash tidal waves and floods upon the island.  Gali is by far the most agile of the six, but she is slowed down by hot and dry conditions.  She thrives in the waters of Lake Naho, where she likes to swim in the waters, and dive off the huge cliffs.
