The Germany Checklist includes native German breeding species, regular visitors, casuals and accidentals from other regions that are believed to have strayed there without direct human aid, and well-established introduced species that are now part of its avifauna.

The list is compiled from several sources, including the online Avibase checklist for Germany, the Clements checklist for birds of the world, 6th Edition, and the field guide Birds of Europe, published in 2000, by Mullarney et al.

Parentheses beside the family names indicate the number of species I've seen out of all the possible species in that family. As of the latest update the list includes 76 families.

Notes: "A" = accidental/casual; "I" = introduced; "" preceding name = observed. (Mouse over the checkmark when present to see date and location of first-ever observation.)
