| Beginners 8-weeks Yoga Better Living Course |

| Based on Patanjali Eight-Fold Path of Classical Yoga the course includes : * Restraints and observances dealing with our attitudes and behaviour * Postural training (asanas) for regaining and maintaining good health * Breathing techniques (Yogendra pranayama) for control of prana (bioenergy) * Techniques for limiting the effect of over stimulation of the mind and emotions * Relaxation training and techniques * Yoga meditation, its understanding and practice * Yoga hygiene and dietary training The course is also aimed at maintaining the true spirit of Classical Yoga and is taught in a simple, systematic and rational way. It also teaches Yoga as a way of life educating one into a more healthy, focused and worthwhile existence. It is not religion focused (although Isvara or the idea of something higher than ourself does play an important role in Yoga), nor are there any rituals or dogmas, thus leaving the individual free to pursue their own philosophical or religious inclinations. Good health is an important component of the course teaching, as well as understanding preventative medicine. You will learn how to exercise your body with gentle stretching exercises asanas (postures) whereby the mind is fully focused on the movement of the body. The breath is synchronised with this movement helping to bring to body and mind a relaxing, balancing and therpeutic effect. The role the mind and emotions play in physical and mental health (according to Yoga) are other important focuses of the Course. Courses are conducted four times throughout the year - summer, autumn, winter and spring. Students attend one session per week for 8 weeks. A Certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the Course. There is also a Yoga meditation, healing and social get-together for students and friends the last Saturday of each month at the Centre.
