Rating the Galaxy
This
page looks at the decks played here in
the
Mt. Vernon, IA area (with a few games from Illinois played by already
listed
members), and ranks them in many ways. Here is a format we work
from:
For classification purposes, ratings in green
means
Yogi played
the deck, blue
means
Adam, red
means Shawn,
white
means
Bryan,
purple
means Dave,
pink
means Rory, light blue means P-Money, orange means Logan, lime green means Steph, icky
yellow means
Kyle,
beige
means Nick, brown
means
Gabe, and dark purple means
Luke.
Colored numbers in front of each deck tell who owns the deck. If
the deck title is light grey,
then it links to the actual deck (and a (o) means it is an off-site
link).
Also, after each index score, a number in parenthases will show the
number
of players in the game. The formula for the index score is listed

The Index Score equals the player's ending power (to a maximum of 20,
20
for victory or shared victory) plus the rank score (see chart below)
plus
four if a victory is scored within the time limit (we use 1 hour 45
minutes)
plus 3 more if the victory is a major victory plus any discressionary
points
awarded (see second chart below). This indexing value can hurt
decks
like Steal Babylon 4 themes and other all or nothing themes (like many
Drakh decks), but it
will
do.

The discretionary points may be awarded by the player rank listed to
any
of the players who ranked below him or her, and they may be split any
number
of ways.

This system is still being played out,but this is what has worked for
our group.
So far, we've played quite a few games, but many decks still have
played
only a few, so they move more wildly. The indexing system was
modeled
loosely off of tournament ranking systems once used by
Precedence. Let me know what you think.
