Welcome to Yogi's Fourteenth Contest!

This month, we explored card phases highly unused in our game by other cards, namely Phases 0, 1, and 2, therefore giving the name Phasing In. Unfortunatly, I think I lost a few entries. However, I still had most of them. Many diverse options were given, and these were the best of them:

First Place Winner: An Eye for an Eye

Rule Card - "Play at the beginning of your turn. This card is not discarded until another Rule Card is played. All players can raze one of thier realms in phase 2 to raze an opponent's realm. This power ignores the Labyrinth of Castle Greyhawk Dungeon card."

By Bill Blanton

Second Place Winner: Pawn Shop

AD&D Holding - "When this player draws cards in phase 1, he may draw two less than his adjusted number of draws from the draw pile (accounting for Tyr, Ring of Winter, etc.) in order to retrieve one of the top six cards of his discard pile instead."

By Drew Massingill

Third Place Winner: Robin Hood

AD&D Hero Level 3 - "Instead of playing or rebuilding a realm in phase 2, Robin allows and requires this player to raze a realm of the player with the most unrazed realms (rob from the rich), and rebuild at no cost a realm of the player with the least unrazed realms (give to the poor). This player is affected if he is the rich or the poor player and ties are decided by this player."

By Jim Leichsenring

Fourth Place Winner: Matron Mother

By Erik Johnson

Fifth Place Winner: Mordrid's Quill Pen

Forgotten Realms Artifact +5 - "This Pen alters reality. During this player's draw phase he must draw all cards face up. Any card shown that is in play, discard the copy in play immediately."

By Shane Reeves

Honorable Mentions:

Silent Burglars - Rule Card

"Play this card at the beginning of this player's turn. This card is not discarded until another rule card is played. At the beginning of a player's turn, he or she must discard all magical items from their pool. A single artifact may be discarded instead."

By Walt Kneeland

The Flaming Tower - AD&D Holding

By Erik Johnson

Bottoms Up! - Wizard Spell

"This spell can be cast during any phase 0. The affected player must draw all of his cards from the bottom of his draw pile until the end of his turn. (off)"

By Greg Kilberger

The Negotiator - Hero Level 5

"When the negotiator is in play there is a suspension of hostilities. In order to attack that turn, a player must draw and discard a card in phase 0 noting the last digit. If this is 0-3 they may boycott the negotiations and attack."

By Stephan Thompson

Zhentarim Assassin - Forgotten Realms Thief Level 2

"During phase 0, he may look at the top card of any draw pile. If this card is an ally or champion, he may assassinate it sending it to the discard pile."

By Charles Frank

The Gambler - AD&D Thief Level 2

"In phase 1 instead of drawing 3 cards the Gambler can challenge any other player to a hand of 5 card stud poker pulling the top 5 cards from the draw pile using the last digits as card numbers. If the Gambler wins this player retains the 5 cards, if he loses this player only retains one (this players choice). The opposing player win or lose will discard the 5 cards, but if he has the winning hand he can draw a spoils which can be played immediately."

By Jim Leichsenring

Construction Crew - AD&D Hero Lvl 2

"While in play, this player may play as many holdings as he wishes to during phase 2."

By Yogi

Roll o' the Dice - Event

"Play immediatly when drawn. If during phase 1, you draw 5 cards. If during any other phase, all players draw 3."

By Bill Blanton

The Uncharted Lands - AD&D Realm

"This realm negates the powers of Tyr, Arkhold, and Mulmaster. When first played this cards owner draws and dicards a card noting the last digit that is the number of cards he/she draws on his turn until the realm is razed or dicarded."

By Kent Sandersfeld

Wo-ha Ui-jung: Leaping Fish - Forgotten Realms Artifact +1

"If this card is attached to a Hero, then at the start of his turn (Phase 0), a player may discard this card and all attached Magic Items to cast a Wish, as per the spell (384/4th and 46/FR). This can be done once per game."

By Jay Weber

Sabotage Squad - AD&D Hero Level 4

"Adventurer. Instead of playing/rebuilding a realm during phase 2, the player can discard two cards, allowing the Sabotage Squad to infiltrate the enemy lines and destroy (discard) one razed realm."

By Greg Kilberger
