Known on the Japanese side of the website as www.SenseiSagasu.com this is my personal recommendation. This takes patience since I had no hits for about two months. Now I get about 4 per day and plenty of student enquiries. You have to sell yourself and take time to edit your profile. My best advice is get a really good pic of yourself. It really turns things around. Log in and refresh your profile as often as possible. Students can monitor this. One problem I have is the system of becoming "Certified". I was really interested in this because it shows students that you are in Japan legally and you are committed enough to sign a contract. The contract term is your decision (up to two years); so bonus points for that. In fact, most of the contract seems to have been written onboard the Love Boat and is fairly innocuous. What I do not like is: 4. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES - The Employee agrees to cooperate with the Employer to: (c) to compensate the Employer or student for any financial damages caused by the Employee (e) absolve the Employer and its clients from all legal and financial obligations which may result from his/her actions This section also seems a bit Stalinist: 7. DISMISSAL - Employer may dismiss Employee without advanced notice for [...]for participation in activities jeopardizing the Employers reputation or business position. Employee understands and accepts that he/she may be immediately and permanently deleted from the FindaTeacher.Net database for breach of any of the terms of this contract. Don't get me wrong. I don't intend to cause in financial damages to my students but what situations would this cover? Moreover, is this website an activity which "jeopardiz[es] the Employers reputation or business position"? Looks like it would be stupid of me to sign up. Go here to check out the contract.
