Yoko able to project tall buildings in a single Biennale opening

The internationally renowned Sydney Biennale has been lauded as the event which will make contemporary art accessable to all people.

Forty-eight artists from 23 countries are taking part in the Biennale, which starts later tonight, with all exhibitions free.

The new director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Lizanne McGregor, says the two-month long event will have something for everyone.

"It has video, film, performance, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, photography, painting and installation, and surely this will dispell the notion that comtemporary art is only for an elite," she said.

New York-based artist, Yoko Ono, is first up tonight, with a special film projection on a skyscraper facing Circular Quay.
