About Kim

The following was written by Yolonda Moore,
Kimberly's Mother.

Where do I start? Where do I end? Can I see through my tears to do it ?

There is so much about her that I will never be able to tell it all. She was my baby--my perfect baby--my perfect little girl--my perfect young lady.  She loved life.  She was full of joy.She was so excited about being in college with her big sister.  She loved Tavia so very much.  She wanted to be just like her.  She was the most tender hearted person in the world.  She cared deeply for other people and animals.  How she loved animals.  She was always finding hurt or lost ones and bringing them home.  Once, a vet called me and told me my daughter was in his office with a cat she had found in the road.  It was hurt too badly to save.  She was terribly upset and the vet asked if I could come to help her because the animal had to be put down.  It was just a little stray kitten, but she wanted to save it.  She wanted to save everyone...people and animals.

She always, always wanted to help others.  That is why her major was sociology.  She wanted to help.  She was trying to help when she was killed.  She was standing in the shoulder of the highway using her cell phone to call 911 to get help for others when the car hit and killed her.  Just trying to help......

She liked to make people laugh.  She was our clown.  She loved silly hats and shoes.  Her eyes sparkled.  Her life sparkled.  Our sparkle is gone.

She was an athlete.  She danced, tumbled, played basketball, and ran track.  The first week she was in track she broke her arm.  She ran with a cast on that little arm.  She refused to quit.  She was asthmatic but insisted on participating in sports in spite of that.  She let nothing get in her way.

She was an honor student from kindergarten through high school.  She was on her way to being an honor student in college.  If only she had been given time.  She was so excited to be a college girl.  She had so many plans.  We all did.

Tears will not allow me to finish. But, if not tears, space  would not allow me to finish anyway.  There is not enough space even in cyberspace to do justice to Kimberly.

Everyone that knew Kimberly well would tell you that KIm had a real zest for life.  She often was the first to enter and the last to leave.  She was like a sponge that absorbed all the life she could and had the ability to squeeze out all the good to share with others.

Kim liked to make people happy and she did it well.  She was definitely a people pleaser.  She had a clever wit and had a certain glow that became apparent after being  around her for a short while.  When she walked into a room, the darkness became light.  Her happiness was contagious.  It was difficult to be around her without feeling her excitement.

She loved to compete and she loved to win.  She gave all she could to accomplish the goals she set for herself.  She accepted things that came her way, but often struggled over why they  had to be the way they were.  Kim handled them the best way she knew how.  Because Kim always put the feelings of others before her own, she often exposed herself to the pain that this can cause.  ( I saw it as pain, but Kim saw it as love.)

Kimberly was a beautiful young girl.  She had a pretty and sweet face.  Her hair was beautiful and she delighted in wearing it in different ways. He walk was smooth and graceful.  She was small and slender in stature, but she had the personality of a giant.

Kim was strong and courageous, she knew right from wrong.  She always felt that if you do what you feel is right, then nothing else matters.  She held this belief until her death.

As you can see, Kim was a lot of things, but most of all, Kim was my daughter, my baby.  I will always miss her and all the things that could have been.
