Fly a kite with me.....
It's a spur of the moment decision. After watching the late Saturday night news weather forecast that the region will be warm for the next three days, we decided to head to the beach on a clear and cloudless Sunday morning.
By nine o'clock the sun has perched high in the sky, warming Pokie's face on the right side as I was driving north to get to the on ramp of the Sunset Highway. Sometimes I wonder why it is named after sunset, one logical thing is, the highway runs east to west and it must be named during the summer when you really can see sunset in this part of the Northwest where clouds prevail most of the time.
The first order of the morning when we got to Cannon beach was breakfast at the famous Pigs and Pancakes. Sometimes I wonder if I have become the pig this time since I finished and cleaned my huge order of eggs, sausages and pancakes.
Arm with just two kites, we headed to the part of the beach where we frequented very often in the past. I craved to fly this particular Japanese style kite - Rokaku (hexagon shape). To begin with, the wind was blowing ferociously and the kite just did not want to reach the sky, it kept coming back and slammed to the ground many times.
Frustrated, I grabbed the other kite - the Para foil. The satisfaction was short-lived, the wind did not die down to make it comfortable plus for some reason, the wind direction made the sun and the kite in a straight line. That's it! I had enough! We got home and still have plenty of time to enjoy sunset from our patio.
