I'll begin with his French lessons.
Joyce is from Quebec and we go visit her family each
year. They all speak French, ergo the lessons.
Joyce's Mom's name is Pauline so the first thing he
was taught was, "Allo Pauline, comment ca vas". After
he got that, it was on to "Sacré bleu". Heck, he
almost had an accent. Then as it was getting closer
to our trip, I started singing "Oh Canada, glorious
and free". Three days later he was singing it,
honest. That's how fast a learner he is. Now comes
the best part. We are at the border crossing and the
immigration guard is French speaking and asking us
the normal questions, when guess who starts singing
"Oh Canada, glorious and free". With that the guard
starts to laugh and says "go on and have a good
time". Another time, we were in upstate N.Y.
visiting friends. Bob, my friend, taught him to sing
"Won't you come home Bill Bailey, Bill Bailey won't
you please come home". That's good, but listen to
this. One day He and I are sitting out on his lawn
just talking, when Bob tilts to one side and lets out
a ripper, (to be nice) and Bailey runs over to him
and says "what did you do, what did you do". Well I
thought Bob was going to fall off his chair with
laughter. We are both smokers, so we have that
smoker cough, Yep he coughs just lke us. He also
laughs and usually does that when we're laughing, so
we laugh even more. Whenever we are making a drink
and use the ice dispenser from the refrigerator and
he hears the cubes falling, he says, "cocktail
time", Of course we laugh and he laughs. In our
kitchen, we have a U shaped counter. He is the owner
of one side and not allowed on the other. When he
does go there, I yell "Git, git bird, git" and
sometimes he'll come bak to his side. Other times
he'll test me. I'll say it and he'll just stop and
look at me. I'll say it two or three times and
nothing. Then I'll start getting up, he'll start
back. Not all the way though. The closer I get to him
the closer he gets to his side. It's like a game to
him. NOW, at any time of a day, when he is on his
side and I go to the other side, maybe to make a
sandwich, he starts in with "Git, git bird, git". Now
he's yelling at me.
Well if you're still with us,
this is
being written by Roy & Joyce. He had his say now it's
our turn.
There are so many more things that I could tell you about him. He is such a pleasure that I hope you got that from this Home Page. When I bought him, neither of us thought he would turn out like this. Maybe it's because we're both retired and can spend time with him. Maybe it was the luck of the draw when he was chosen, we don't know but we wouldn't trade him for anything. Today, I started teaching him, "I have a web page", I'll let you know how long before he's saying it.
They'll be more about him but I have other things to do with this to make it look and read good. I'm a retired Boilermaker construction worker, so writing doesn't come easy to me. STAY TUNED. If you would like to e-mail me about this spoiled bird, please do so. Or sign "His" guest book, or both.
PS: It's been four
days and he's saying, "I have a Web Site". And you
know what, he seems to be proud of it. LOL HEY, I
just won an award, and Roy & Joyce never did. heh heh
Now I've put together a page with all kinds of things on it. From some cool links to Banner making and other home Pages. Click on the F Key Saver and have a look.
