Dear Friends,
Just a quick note to tell you that, unfortunately, there are now two homes where there used to be one. All staff and board members, plus three staff members from the AIM/AIC AIDS Awareness program plus myself, met together for about four hours yesterday, and it looked for a while like we might at least achieve an amicable separation, so to speak, but as soon as the meeting adjourned, the name calling and shouting began again.
So now, there is a new home, run by the people that I have been working with for about five months. So far, they have found a nice house with about 2.5 acres of lovely land near a town called Limuru. In fact, it's a far better facility than the existing Alpha Joy Home. Unfortunately, most of the children remain at the former home, and I am not convinced that the staff there will care for them properly. Anthony (the HIV+ boy) is being moved to the new facility today, as there has been some medicine "disappear" in the last few days.
Pray that the new home will be able to develop and provide a loving, secure home. Pray that the existing Alpha Joy Home will be well-administered and the children there will be given the love of Christ that they deserve. Pray for Anthony, that his dramatic progress to date will continue. Pray that I will have wisdom when I am dealing with the new home. Finally, pray that the love of Christ will shine through in all of this, and that staff and students will realize the incredible love and gift of grace that is available to them through Jesus Christ.
Thanks again for your prayers and letters of support.
