MACTAQUAC UBC OCTOBER 28,2002

Present: Harry Waugh, Bill Blaney, Helen Durling, Sonny Urquhart, John Allaby, Don Duval.

Regrets: Susan Christie, Jerry Horsman, Claudia Tucker.

The Moderator Bill Blaney opened the meeting with prayer.

The Christian Training Commission is responsible for the Spring Association Meeting at Greenwood Drive UBC. Dr. Lee MacDonald will be in the area speaking at Millville UBC and will be available as our main speaker on May 9-10.

The Fall Meeting will be at Mactaquac UBC on October 24-25.

Suggested topics for Dr. MacDonald were presented:" Education in the Church in the New Millennium"

" Developing Christian Leadership in the Modern Church"

These are not cut and dried subjects and are subject to change and any new topics can be presented by Association members. This will be presented to Council in November as additional suggestions.

Suggested we approach Greenwood Drive UBC to see if their men would put on a Men's Breakfast to attract men to the Association meetings.

OTHER BUSINESS

Missions Commission:- Nashwaak Village will receive $2500 Grant as well as Hanwell UBC + $1000.

Harvey UBC Project re: Brockway is still under study.

Suggestion to Sub-Committee that the Women's Commission be shifted to the Ministry Team as it and the Mission Commission are now doing similar work and the Ministry Team would be more suited to The Women's mandate.

IDEAS FOR THE SUB-COMMITTEE

Straighten out term meetings of the Association and Council re Dates etc.

We need to encourage Hanwell UBC to participate in the Association more. They have received considerable support financially and prayerfully with little response in return.

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

It was suggested that the Communications Director be on the Executive Board as Ex-Officio and be elected on a term basis. The Communications director and the Clerk should not be tied down by their length of office stipulation as the other Executive due to their function.

It was suggested we get the Communication Director to set up a Calendar and publish by E-mail and voice mail activities of the churches within the Association, to be sent out BI-monthly. He is to be kept informed of events (Inductions, Ordinations, concerts etc.) that are of interest to other churches, for participation within the association family.

Each church should submit a 6-12 month schedule of events in advance so we can avoid conflicts with meetings within the association.

The Communication director to send out schedules in advance to utilize his expertise on Council meetings, church events, Association meetings, GHLC. Etc.

To get the Communication Director to start a Communication Program immediately to get churches to send in information and to publish the same on a semi-monthly report via e-mail etc.

Those churches without E-mail contact should submit the name of a member who is willing to receive and circulate E-mail for the church.

All Commissions working on projects such as Women's, Missions and Social action will continue to work on their on-going projects until completed despite the suspension of the Constitution.

The meeting was adjourned with prayer by Harry Waugh.

Adjourned.

Prayerfully submitted,

Don Duval
