Dear Friends,

Tonight we need your prayers. Neighbours of ours, the Richardsons and the
Gaudaurs, were involved in a terrible car accident this afternoon. Mike Gaudaur,
from London, Ontario, was driving and his son was in the back seat. The
Richardson family, Mark, Deborah, and three children, were with them. A petrol
truck blew out a tire and swerved into their lane and there was a head-on
collision. Their eldest son, Paul, was in the front passenger seat.
Miraculously, most passengers were only lightly injured, but Paul has received
head injuries, two broken wrists, and two broken femurs. I (Tim) took Deanna
Gaudaur (nee Heggie, from Cross Creek, NB) in to meet her husband, and we took
him to a nearby hospital called the Aga Kahn Hospital (a very good facility),
and I was then able to go to the CT Scan room to check on Paul. Immediately
after the CT scan, I was allowed to go in and try to talk to him, as he was
unresponsive. When I told him who I was, I asked him to try to open his eyes,
which he attempted to do. Twice more over the next ten minutes, he responded to
the same request the same way.
Later on this evening, before we left the hospital, he was considerably
more responsive to pain stimulus and his father's voice (his father and other
family members were cut and bruised but otherwise unhurt). The outlook is good,
but iffy. Paul is 13 years of age and a VERY active boy. He will need total care
for the next few weeks, and then a long, slow recovery. Mrs. Richardson has been
admitted to hospital for observation, and Mr. Richardson had remained to be with
her and with Paul. The younger son and daughter are spending the night here at
Kijabe with friends.
Please be in prayer for Paul, and for his family. They will need the Lord's
presence very intensely right now, and Paul will need the Lord's healing power.
I will keep you posted. Many of you prayed for me in '94 when I had a terrible
accident here in Kenya, and I know you will be faithful on Paul''s behalf. Pray
also for Mike Gaudaur, the driver, who is understandably shaken and somewhat
injured (broken bone in his hand, and a large gash on his left knee).
Thanks again for praying. God bless.
Tim
