  PO Cadet Steve Brown is the Lord Lieutenants Cadet of North Yorkshire (Lord Crathorne) from September 2003. This is a great honour and comes just after he won the Eastern Area Sea Cadet band Competition as the best Solo Drummer. He also wrote the piece of music (Bon Espoir) for the Philip Thompson Memeorial trophy which WON beating the National champions Harrogate in the process.  4 York cadets that saved a drowning man, received the Commodores Commendation at a passing out parade. The man was seen being dragged out and under near the newly built Millennium bridge. He was rescued by the cadets who were in the units Viking power boat. Once out, the man refused to give his name or go to hospital and was put ashore met by his sister.
