The World's End Bar...
Damen leans over and kisses Yo on the cheek.
Yosannah turns to regard Damen with a smile.
Scott smiles at Leigh, "Nevermind, so what have you been doing with yourself lately?"
Leigh-Ann says "Um. Mostly nothing."
Damen says "I need to go to Usher soon, Yo."
Leigh-Ann says "I finished up that book, though."
Damen rubs his jaw thoughtfully, "Or whatever House it has become."
Scott sips his beer and asks, "How was it?"
Leigh-Ann says "Dumb, just like I told you. How could two people hate each other so much through a whole book, suddenly decide it's been love all along and they just wouldn't admit it to each other, just 'cause they, you know?"
Scott shrugs and sips his beer. He says, "I don't know. That's why I don't read them."
Yosannah says "What for? Oh. Wait. That?"
Damen nods, "Oliver. It's time."
Yosannah pauses. Thoughtfully, "When? Do you want me to go with you?"
Damen turns and studies Yo, "Do you want to go with me? We might not be coming back."
Yosannah says "What do you mean?"
Damen smiles, "I mean that Oliver is older than God. We might not be coming back....afterall, I'm going to kill kim."
Yosannah laughs as she glances around to see who heard that, "Yeah... okay.."
Yosannah leans toward Damen and whispers... "You know I want to go with you. If you aren't coming back.. What do you expect me to do without you?" She is obviously downtrodden, "I'm serious. I couldn't take it."
Damen nods. "Then you'll go with me."
Yosannah says "Good. I can get help if you want."
Damen shakes his head, "No....this is personal."
Leigh-Ann peers over at Damen and Yosannah, baffled.
Yosannah nods at Damen.
Leigh-Ann mutters to Scott, "... people... come... how they're... to... or..."
Yosannah notes Leigh's gaze and then turns to Damen, "Let's go get a table, D. Okay?"
Scott mutters to Leigh-Ann, "No,... Damen... trying to..."
Yosannah catches Damen's name coming from Scott's conversation with Leigh and she regareds him cooly.
Scott looks at Yosannah and says, "What?"
Damen chuckles and regards Leigh for a moment. "Britiny Spears over there isn't going to cause ripples in reality as we know it." He looks back at Yosannah. "But that's fine....I'll follow you." ,
Yosannah looks Leigh over at Damen's 'Britiny' comment. She turns away and laughs. "Yeah, okay." She takes Damen's hand, pointedly ignoring Scott's question.
Yosannah points up at the balcony, "Up there?"
Damen nods and walks up the staircase to the balcony and Yosannah follows.
Up in the balcony, Yosannah chuckles, "Britiny Spears. Nice."
Damen grins, "I thought it was pretty funny, myself."
"Damen..."
Damen smiles, "Yes, my own."
"If you die." She shakes her head. "I'm scared."
Damen smiles, "Lass...let's not worry about what has not yet happened....it clouds actions when they are needed."
Yosannah nods with a smile. "Right. Sorry."
Damen leans over and kisses her, "We'll be okay."
Yosannah reaches up and holds his face in her hands, "I know. It'll be fine." She doesn't seem too convinced. "You'll take care if it."
Damen says "I always do....one way or the other."
"When are we doing this?"
Damen says "Soon...very soon. within the next few days. Speaking of which...I need to talk to a few people before we go."
Yosannah says "What about?"
Damen says "I just need to let key players know what I'm up to. Just in case."
Yosannah says "That Ryker guy?"
Damen nods. "He's one of them, yes."
"You seem to be confiding in him a lot lately."
Damen says "I consider him a friend."
Yosannah says "You've come up with lots of those lately too."
"I've had a need for them...or at least...for them to believe they have one in me."
"That's not friendship, Damen. That's using people."
Damen nods, "Indeed."
Yosannah smirks. "I'm on to your game, Damen. You've only got one friend. And it aint Stone."
Damen grins, "Am I so transparent?" He chuckles.
"I just know you. That's all."
Damen smiles, "Perhaps it's just a facade I'm giving you?" He smiles then, and leans over to kiss her again, "You know what? I don't even want to joke about that being the case.....because it's not. You do know me."
"Good, because I was about to whap you again."
Damen grins, "I figured you were."
Jane appears and looks around, smiling quite happily.
Damen glances down as Jane appears.
Yosannah says "That doesn't look like someone who was down in the dumpers."
Yosannah nods at Jane.
Damen regards Jane. "I'm sure she's just as fast back onto her feet as she is onto her back."
Matthew steps forth from rainbow sparkles, card put away as he looks around.
Yosannah 's jaw drops and she laughs loudly. After a moment she nods in Matthew's direction, "Thats the guy whose paintings are in the Club, by the way."
Damen raises an eyebrow up. "I thought they were my paintings?"
"No, no. Those two in the library are his. Do you know what I'm talking about?"
Damen shakes his head. "No."
Yosannah laughs again, "You're so observant."
Damen grins. "Hey, I know that the handyman still hasn't picked up his wrench yet."
She smiles knowingly at that. "Yeah. You're right. Hmmm."
Matthew glances at Yo once in a while over his tea.
Yosannah says " I'm gonna go get another drink, do you want anything?" She stands, slides out of her jacket and hangs it over her chair. He doesn't answer her so she snaps a finger in front of his face, "D! Hello!"
Damen shakes his head as if he were in thought and then grins, "Yes...a bottle of wine would be great."
Yosannah nods. "Okay. I'll get two glasses." She smiles. She descends from the balcony.
Jane looks up at Damen. "You going to let her get away with that?" She maintains her cheery mood.
Yosannah rolls her eyes. She glances at Matthew's table as she heads toward the bar.
Matthew inclines his head to Yosannah as he takes another sip of his tea. She pauses and asks him,"You ARE the one who did the paintings for the Club, right?"
Matthew nods, slight mirth playing briefly about his lips before that too fades back once more into his now-normal expression of sorrow, "I did."
Yosannah nods and snaps her fingers, "I knew that's where I knew you from." With that she turns and continues on toward the bar.
Matthew mutters what might be 'and places before' as Yosannah turns her attention back to the bar.
Yosannah looks over her shoulder at the man, "Hu?"
Matthew says "Leave off, sister mine."
Yosannah turns back now. She tilts her head, "What did you say?"
Matthew says "I said 'leave off, sister mine.'"
Yosannah looks up at Damen for help but offers to Matthew, "I'm not following you."
Matthew takes one more sip of his tea, finishing it. "Wits become dulled by time , by wine, and by unuse." He shrugs, as if that should explain everything.
Yosannah blinks.
Matthew tips back the glass, crunching a piece of ice.
She asks, "What the heck are you talking about?"
Matthew allows his eyes to release a bit of their moisture, twin tears begining to roll down his cheeks. "I remember the death, the pain." For a moment a twisted smile comes upon him. "I remember the joy, the exhileration."
Yosannah points at the bar and asks, "You look like you could use some water or something."
Matthew shakes his head. "A roast duck, perhaps."
Yosannah shakes her head as well, "Yeah, well, good luck." She moves toward the bar again.
Matthew smirks. He leans back in his chair, eyes now distant and concentration gone there as well.
Yosannah gathers up a bottle of wine and two glasses from the bar and mumbles to herself, "... he can't know. How could he.."
