Rooftops - Hell's Kitchen...
Cisco steps onto the roof after climbing the rusty fire escape from the alley.
Pestilence stands at the edge of the building. The collar that usually graces her neck is not visable. The fire escape creeks in the wind after Cisco steps off of it. His light flys out like a bird at his command, alighting on the low walls, the roof gravel, the rusted out billboards and, at last, Pestilence. He pauses, then the light flickers out. He grins in the dusk, and calls out "Hey!"
Pestilence turns her head to regard Cisco cooly. She raises a brow at his call, "Cisco. You just can't let well enough alone, can you?" She smirks, "Fighting for this hole until the very end."
Cisco says "There are no endings, Duanya Yosannah, just the clean up before the begining of something new."
Pestilence considers, "Unfortunately it may be at Death's expense I'm affraid."
Cisco looks almost somber, a difficult expression that vanishes as his smile returns. "She feels strongly about what she is doing, hey? She is doing what she feels is right?"
"Perhaps." She pauses as she glances over the city-side, "Though that does puzzle me."
The roof gravel crunches as Cisco walks over to stand by the almond eyed woman. He lets his gaze drift down to the street she's watching. Nothing down in the darkness catches his interest, he mearly stares for a while. "You really think she might die?" His voice is worried.
"Of course Kitsune could die. Though I suppose Death has probably grown fond of her. I can empathize with that."
Cisco glances at Pestilence. "I think more people empathize with that than she knows. I'll have to make a point of mentioning it to her." He stuffs his hands in his pockets for a moment, then catches sight of some lose bricks he compulsively tries to restack. "There's . . . A lot going on here."
"Such as?" Pestilence regards Cisco as he fidgets with the bricks. His actions seem to amuse her.
Cisco gives Pestilence a sideling glance as he settles the bricks back in their places. "You ever have people think you're crazy, Duanya Pestilence? I go to the Cathedral in the Courts a lot. I see stuff, in the Pit there." He stands, turning back to talk. "I've seen this world rebuilding itself. All the streets flowing out like smooth rivers. The houses and sky scrapers growing like woods." Behind him, the bricks continue to mend themselves. Cisco nods. "I think Dunaya Death is very couragous. Also, I think she's working towards the inevitable. I best get going now."
Pestilence nods silently. Contemplating his words. "Of course. I will think on what you have said."
The bricks and morter continue to un-decay until Cisco is out of sight. Slowly, after he's gone, they fall out of the wall, still and dead again.
