30 March Day 20 Left Tosohatchee State Preserve about 12. Bought Pepsi at Christmas RV park. Got to Seminole Ranch ok, but followed orange blazes instead of blue, hiked an exter 5-6 clicks. Ended up on a dike at west enterance to Orlando Wilderness Park. Camped, heard truck go by, hope don't get hassled. Hiking was mostly in shade today.

31 March Day 21 Overcast this morn. Left at 06:00, off dike up Wheeler road, to Fort Christmas, long walk, part paved, part dirt. Passing Perrick housing development, it started rainning hard. Got to Chuluota at noon. Stopped at a Circle K, by a fire station. Got goodies, called Peg, told her to meet me in the afternoon, on the 3rd, at Juniper Springs, as being this close, I would be there sometime that day. Rained hard for another two hours, then sun came out. I went on to a campsite on the Econlockhatee River, under a CR 419 bridge.

1 April Day 22 April Fools day! Got up real early, in order to go by some schools, before kids got there, didn't want anyone being scared by a dirty old hiker. Nice day. In Oviedo, got more goodies and water. This area is built up, some road walking, some hiking between mupital roads. After long day a nice sight, the "Senator" Cypress in Big Tree Park. Passed through part of Camp La NoCHe, were took scouts when a Scoutmaster. Finally made it to Ocala NF, at Clearwater campground. Kilometers hiked, 26- 30 (17-19 miles).

2 April Day 23 Today, only hiked about 22 clicks (14 miles) as arranged with wife, Peggy, that I would meet her at Juniper Springs in the afternoon on the 3rd of April, as wasn't sure if I would be there on the 1st or 2nd of April. Camped south of Bucks Lake.

3 April Day 24. Got up early, about 6 AM. Another nice day, thank goodness! Hiked to Juniper Springs, about another 22k's This day I really picked up my pace, got there just after 2PM! Peggy had just got there a half an hour before me. This ends my first half of my flip-flop FT hike.

Part 2. North to South on the FT.

6 April Day 1 (25) After 3 days of R & R, good food, and lovin', left on night bus, to Milton, in the Panhandle. Arrived there at 10 AM, on the 7th. Got breakfast at Burger King, then walked CR 191northeast, to Blackwater River State Forest. about 24 k's. Got here about 7PM.

7 April Day 2 (26) This is the northern terminus of the FT, the trail is named Jackson Red Ground. Came to a 2nd lean-to in about 19 clicks (12 miles). Day was a little chilly, I stopped for night here. This is the only place on the FT that I've to come across lean-tos.

8 April Day 3 (27) Ended this section, after another 19 clicks. Karick Lake is just east of CR 189, which I'll start walking tomorrow. Lake area has camping spots, water, latrines. Stopping here for day, as don't know what's down highway passed south forest border. Again, today chilly.

9 April Day 4 (28) Today is my start of a lot of road waking (as it's not really hiking). Next actual FT isn't till I get to Ebro, and Pine Log SF (About 65 k's, 45 miles). Walked south on CR 189, then some on US 90. Got goodies 3 times at different stores. Got to Crestview. Hiding tent in an empty lot, just off highway, hope don't get caught. Walked about 37 clicks (21 miles). Feet better somewhat, as had stopped and bathed them. Having no problem with water, as refilled at those stores. Today first hot day for me in this area.

10 April Day 5 (29) Didn't get caught last night! Ate breakfast at a McDonalds. In Crestview, got some food at a Piggly Wiggle. Today was warm, untill about 1PM, when sky went into overcast mode. Walking by Kuler Lake? through Elgin AFB, at about 5PM, it statred sprinking. Got water at lake. I stopped just after lake, hid in woods just off road ( SR 83), as it started to pour. Will the military police find and chase me out? This is federal land, how come no FT through it?

11 April Day 6 (30) 1 month on FT. Rain all last night, glad I stopped, as rain till 8:30 this morn. Didn't get caught. Packed up wet gear, and walked to Niceville, about 8 clicks. Bought ice cream and burger at a Dairy Queen. SR 20 through town was about 3 clicks. Walked another 11 clicks to the Maxwell/Gunter AFB rec area. Staying here tonight, as I'm retired military, and can!

12 April Day 7 (31) Left early from rec area, as day was going to be hot, and I'm walking SR 20. About noon I was low on water. Trail magic! A guy who cut firewood for sale stopped his pickup on the road, asked me were I was headed. I told him Pine Log SF, as I was hikiking the whole FT. He said I was nuts! He had a water jug in back of the truck, offered me to fill up, and a ride, he was going about 15 miles down the highway. I took both, as it was very hot, and this way, wouldn't use up more water. After the ride, walked about another 8 clicks, till I spotted a patch of woods near the highway. Snuck into it, stopping for today.

13 April Day 8 (32) Again, up real early, as it's going to be another very hot day, I wanted to get to Pine Log SF, to get off the highway, and be legal camping. Finally got to Pine Log at about 6 PM. Just after the entrance, discovered a shower! Snuck one, refilled my water bottles. Sign stated $8 dollars to camp, so hiked about 2 miles into the Point Washington WMA and camped near a creek.

14 April Day 9 (33) Continued on in the PWWMA, no real cut trail, but blazes on trees, mostly hiked dirt roads. Very hot today, so stopped near a concrete bridge, will have water to cook, cleanup, and refill bottles. Just took it easy today, doing about 20 clicks.

15 April Day 10 (34) Still dirt roads in the PWWMA. Finished section 26N on SR 77 , about 11. Got to Vicksburg, store there, more goodies. Then I hustled down road to Southport, to get to Post Office before it closed, as had resupply. Got there, repacked pack, got some goodies at store. Went back north up SR 77, camped just off rosd, again in the PWWMA.

16 April Day 11 (35) More road walking from here, going to be about 100 k's before actual blazed FT again! Decided to go on CR 388 northeast, then at Youngstown, some more backroads, to get back on SR 20. Reason: Don't know if any other crossings of Apalachicola River, other than on SR 20. Passed through Youngstown, stopped at store there, after 22 clicks (13 miles). Had no problem with water, several streams along the way. Called Peg from store, she says a Steve Sheridan? was in paper, he started trail in Feburary. What a letdown, as he probably will complete FT before me! Hiked east out of town 1click, found a small sandy spot to camp.

17 April Day 12 (36) Backtracked west, back to US 231, took it north, to SR 20. Very busy highway, walked against traffic, so no offer of a ride. At intersection of roads, a gas station. Bought two scratch-off lottery tickets, won a free ticket and $50 dollars! Walking on SR 20, getting close to Clarksville, so hid in woods again for night, don't know how area is built up between it and Blountstown.
