Yellowstone Campgrounds

There are a number of campgrounds in the park. You can ONLY camp at designated camp sites.

    Camping in the backcountry requires a free permit.

    AmFac Parks and Resorts manages five campgrounds. They are Madison, Grant Village, Canyon, Bridge Bay campgrounds and Fishing Bridge RV Park. These five contain about 80 percent of the campsites in the park. Reservations at these campgrounds can be made by calling (307)344-7311.

    Two Warnings:

    Fishing Bridge RV Park is restricted to hard sided RVs because of bear habitat in the area.

    Most of the trees at Bridge Bay campground were removed because of disease.

    All other campgrounds in the park, representing 20% of the campsites, are run by the National Park Service on a first-come, first-served basis. These campgrounds fill early so try to get to them by no later than 10:00 a.m. and even that might be too late. If you plan to get to the park later in the day then you would be wise to call for reservations.
