As can be shown by the graph above New York's deer herd and harvest has grown signifcantly since the early 1970's. The late 80's saw huge increases in the harvest as well as the size of the herd. I am looking for statistical information on the NY hunter and how many new hunters there are. At the present time it does not appear to be a growing sport in this state.Statistical Information for 1995 provided by my good friend DEVO Firearm harvest: 166,43 Bow harvest: 21,854 Total harvest: 188,284- 8th in the nation Estimated size of heard: 900,000 - 10th in the nation Resident Deer Hunters: 803,000 -4th in the nation Non-Resident Deer Hunters: 2,055 Trends: Deer Vehicle Collisions: Declining Deer Crop Damage: Constant # of youth Hunters: Increasing Total # of Hunters: Declining # hunting with Muzzleloaders: Increasing # hunting with Bows: Increasing Coyote Pressure on Deer: Constant Anti-Hunting Pressure: Constant Problems with Poaching: Unknown # of firearms days: 53 # of bowhunting days: 96 # of Muzzleloading days: 14 Boone & Crockett Entries: 1830 to present: 34 1984 to present: 5 1991 to present: 2 All Time Top10 deer: B&C Score, Location, by Whom and Year:
