A natural tank that catches and holds rain water, located at the very top of the shelter.
In a canyon about 500 yds south of this location is another rock tank which was probable their main source of water. One very busy rock. Bedrock Morteros Morteros are a variation on the mortar and pestle theme and are used by the Native Americans in food processing. They would start by chipping a hole in the bedrock using a sharp hard stone. They would further smooth the hole by pounding and turning stones in the hole using sand and water as an abrasive. After the mortero was ready, the Native Americans would fill the holes with seeds and using a rock or wooden pestle, grind the hard seeds into flour. Generally speaking the deeper and more numerous the morteros were, the longer the people had inhabited that area.
